2012 Presidential Candidate Positions on Health Care

Jon Huntsman is the governor of Utah and former U.S. Ambassador to China. Huntsman formally entered the race for the Republican nomination for President in June, 2011.

Huntsman once supported an individual health care mandate, but no longer does. As governor, he pushed a bill that mirrored the Massachusetts universal coverage model, but ultimately did not pass.

Individual Issues:

  • Supports market-based
  • Disagrees with denial of health insurance coverage due to minor ailments
  • Wants to make insurance more affordable
