Vanilla Ice Cream

Nothing compares to hom made ice cream.

Yield: Serves 12


  • 10 egg yolks
  • 2 1/2 quarts heavy cream
  • 1 whole vanilla bean
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Splenda, or to taste
  • ice cream maker


  1. Beat egg yolks 3- 5 minutes
  2. In large saucepan simmer cream with vanilla bean for 30 minutes
  3. Discard vanilla bean
  4. Temper by pouring some of cream mixture into eggs slowly
  5. Slowly mix all eggs into pan mixture
  6. Simmer until thick
  7. Add sweeteners and vanilla extract
  8. Strain into chilled bowl
  9. Freeze in ice cream maker
