Rib Roast Of Beef

This recipe for a traditional rib roast is simple and flavorful.

Yield: Serves 8


  • 1- 6lb. rib roast
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 3/4 tsp. black pepper
  • horseradish spread


  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F
  2. Place meat, fat-side up, on a rack in a shallow pan
  3. Sprinkle with garlic salt and black pepper
  4. Make a small incision through the fat covering and insert meat thermometer into center of fleshiest part. (Be sure tip does not touch bone or fat of meat)
  5. Roast, uncovered until meat thermometer reaches: Rare, 140 degrees F; Medium, 160 degrees F; Well Done 170 degrees F
  6. Remove from oven and cover with foil
  7. Allow to stand 15 to 20 minutes before carving
  8. Serve with defatted pan juices (au jus) and horseradish spread
