Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion; sauté 6 minutes until tender. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and crushed red pepper flakes and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10 minutes for flavors to blend.
Toss with pasta, top a pizza, or add a bit of white wine and use to simmer fresh seafood such as clams and chunks of cod for a quick seafood stew.
