Alfredo Pasta Sauce
Finally, a healthy way to enjoy this guilty pleasure.
Yield: 1 1/2 cups, 4 servings
Ingredients
- 1 ½ tsp. vegetable oil
- ¼ cup chopped green onion
- 1 Tbs. all-purpose flour
- ¾ to 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1- 12 ounce can evaporated skim milk
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup fresh basil or ½ tsp. dried basil
- ¼ tsp. cracked black pepper
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Sauté green onion in vegetable oil until tender in a medium saucepan
- Stir in the flour and garlic until smooth
- Slowly stir in evaporated skim milk
- Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil and begins to thicken, stirring constantly
- Remove from heat and stir in cheese, basil, and black pepper
- Serve over hot cooked pasta
