Lose weight, burn fat and eat well according to your body type

BACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

The 7 Principles of Fat Burning: Get Healthy, Lose Weight and Keep It Off! is a book written by Eric Berg to help ignite your fat-burning hormones with a tailor-made eating and exercise plan that’s right for your body type.

Dr. Berg has researched and found that everyone falls into one category of four different body types. The first thing you do with this program is take a quiz to determine what type of body you have. Once this is determined, you can choose the program that matches that body type and start ridding yourself of cravings and ignite your body’s fat-burning hormones.

The seven principles to fat burning are: The four different body shapes, each influenced by hormones; calories are insignificant compared to fat-burning hormones; you have to be healthy before you can lose weight; environmental hormones and chemicals mimic your hormones; you have to heal your glands and hormones to keep the weight off; fat-burning and fat-storing hormones have their own triggers and incorrect exercise prevents fat burning.

The four different body types are adrenal, ovary, thyroid and liver. There is additional information available on the body types through the accompanying web site FindYourBodyType.com.

Each of these different body types gives a clue as to what is going on the inside the body because of how fat is stored. There are illustrations contained in the book to show what each body type generally looks like.

Because of the heavy focus on hormones, there is an insightful look at which hormones are fat burning and which ones are fat-storing. There are also various explanations given for what causes certain body types.

Once you have completed the quiz to find out what your body type is, you can begin following the proper diet and exercise program for that body type to lose weight.

DIET and NUTRITION

Your diet when following The 7 Principles of Fat Burning will completely depend on what type of body you have.

The first step is taking the quiz to determine what your body type is. After doing that, you can set out on your individual eating plan that is specific to your body type.

You are given specific foods and their serving amounts for each body type. There are also meal plans broken out by day for each body type. This is to help give an idea of what type of foods you should be eating.

Dr. Berg gives a general idea of how much food to consume, but does want you to consume what feels satisfying to you. The snapshot below reflects a day of eating if you have the Adrenal or Ovary body type.

These body types appear to be a eating plan of breakfast, lunch, dinner and three snacks daily.

  • Breakfast: Eggs with sautéed mushrooms
  • Midmorning snack: Raw nuts
  • Lunch: Steak and salad made with red cabbage
  • Afternoon snack: Raw nuts and cheese
  • Dinner: 3 oz roast beef and cheese and celery
  • Evening snack: Berries
EXERCISE

Your exercise plan when following The 7 Principles of Fat Burning is also based completely on your body type.

Dr. Berg believes that doing the wrong exercises can actually hinder your fat burning, so it will be important to follow the exercise program that is laid out for your specific body type.

Information is offered on what to eat before and after exercising as well as how much sleep to get and an explanation of both aerobic (with oxygen) and anaerobic (without oxygen) exercises. Liver and thyroid body types use anaerobic exercise only while adrenal body types use aerobic and ovary body types use a combination of both. Since ovary body types use both forms of exercise, a snapshot of their recommended workout is given below:

  • Exercise every day with aerobic exercises such as walking, running, treadmill, soccer, basketball, jazz dancing or step aerobics; all at 60 minutes each session
  • Exercise every other day at first starting at 15 minutes per session progressing to each day and 60 minute sessions; includes weight training, resistance machine for anaerobic exercises
CONCLUSION

If you have found that you haven’t been able to lose weight in the past, you may be approaching weight loss the wrong way. The 7 Principles of Fat Burning truly gives you a different approach and a different look at weight loss as a whole.

Through this book, you can transform your body into a fat burning machine in a safe and healthy way. You will eat according to your body type and exercise that way as well. Although the book contains a lot of information, it is all helpful to guiding you towards a healthier body and lifestyle.
