BACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

Lite for Life is a website founded by Maureen Sullivan to aid in weight loss. The Lite for Life program is a weight loss program designed to get lasting results that last for a lifetime.

Maureen Sullivan battled with her weight and wanted to find a program that would finally work for her. She teamed up with Dr. Seale Harris, a pioneer in diabetes research who discovered the concept of hyperinsulinism. Together, they created Lite for Life based on Dr. Harris’ findings that the key to weight loss was learning to eat in a way that stabilized blood sugar.

Using Lite for Life, you get unlimited access to personal consulting that can aid you in your weight loss journey. The site suggests that you can lose 15-20 pounds in the first eight weeks of being on the program.

There are four main phases to the program:

  • Preparation
  • Reducing
  • Transition and Stabilization
  • Maintenance

While on the Lite for Life program, you will eat fresh foods instead of pre-packaged meals. Overall, it is a low-carb program that emphasizes whole and fresh foods as well as supplements to support weight loss and the prevention of diabetes.

There are currently locations available in California, Florida, Iowa and opening soon in Kentucky.

DIET and NUTRITION

Lite for Life speaks specifically about teaching you to eat nutritious and healthy foods to lose weight and keep it off. There is no mention beyond that about exactly what types of foods you’ll be eating, how often you will eat or if there are foods or groups that are off limits. The idea is to get you to set up an appointment to find out this information.

Since the mission of the program is to stabilize blood sugar levels, a low glycemic and low-carb diet is encouraged. A diet that emphasizes fresh vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains and modest amounts of fruit and fat are promoted as well as taking specific Lite for Life-approved supplements.

EXERCISE

There is no mention of exercise within the Lite for Life website of exercise.

CONCLUSION

Lite for Life is a program that is developed for those that want to stop dieting and lose weight for good. It was created primarily for those with or at risk for diabetes.

Following the program is restricted to the areas where Lite for Life weight loss centers exist, namely, California, Florida and Iowa.

Although it is hard to gauge exactly what the program entails, its emphasis on the low-carb lifestyle as a way to control blood sugar levels and keep insulin balanced is an effective way to manage diabetes, prevent the disease and lose weight.

I have been on this program for two weeks and have lost three pounds. I eat my own food, use my own supplements, and follow the program's guidelines. There are program foods available, and I've tried several. They are all natural and taste great. My coach is nutrition professional who has formal education and certifications from a very reputable school. I love working with her. I am learning a great deal about nutrition, how my body works, and am re-learning proper portion size and how to balance what I eat throughout the day. I have more energy, too. I am looking forward to watching my weight drop more every week.
