LA Weight Loss is a company that has a history of weight loss centers and high powered sales tactics. However, LA Weight Loss has recently closed many of their centers around the country and transformed their program to one that can be done entirely online. There are a few physical centers that remain, but the online program allows you to participate in the program no matter where you live. The LA Weight Loss program is designed for those with a busy lifestyle. You can achieve weight loss results quickly using this program. The key to the fast and effective results is called the transmetabolic factor.
This helps your body burn calories throughout the day. You don’t have do anything special for this factor to occur, you just have to follow the LA Weight Loss menu plan. Although the claim is that the transmetabolic factor occurs through the foods you eat, you are required to purchase nutrition supplements each month with the LA Weight Loss program. With the meal plan, each meal includes balanced amounts of protein, carbohydrates and good fat. Portion control and timing of meals is also very important on this program. When you start the program, you use the LA Rapid Results Food Guide. This guide is followed until you lose 20 pounds. At that point you will transition to the LA My Way Food Guide. If your goal is to lose less than 20 pounds, you would transition once you reach your goal. The foods you will eat are those that you purchase at your local grocery store. There are no prepackaged meals to buy, but you are encouraged to purchase and eat two LA Lite Bars each day along with LA SmartTrim Nutritionals.
You will choose the foods you eat each day and never be forced to eat things you don’t like. There are support tools available as well as one on one support through chat rooms and forums. To jump-start your results, you will receive a 2 day kick-start plan featuring the LA Weight Loss TakeOFF Juice. There are five easy to follow steps that make the up the elements of the entire LA Weight Loss program. The LA Weight Loss program is divided into three phases: Weight Loss, Stabilize, Maintenance.
- Recommendations for dining out
- No food restrictions
- No counting
- No prepackaged meals to purchase or order
- Easy to follow program
- Entire program can be done online
- Two day kickstart for results
- Inspiring success stories
- Helpful for those who have large amounts of weight to lose
- See results quickly
- Several support tools available
- Program is different than the previous high pressure LA Weight Loss method
- Five simple steps
- Choose from auto-ship or single month program
- Includes detailed instructions for daily guidance
- Meal plans customized based on your current weight
- Program can be expensive due to monthly charges for the bars and juice; you must still purchase your own groceries
- Must purchase snack bars and supplements every month to get the other program elements
- Single month option costs $100 more than the monthly auto-ship option
LA Weight Loss has a non-diet approach. They promote a healthy weight loss program, that teaches you how to live a healthy and balanced life- not just kill a few pounds for the moment. You won't have to seriously restrict one group of food, like a low-carb or no-fat diet; instead, you'll learn how to enjoy all things in moderation assuring your body receives all the nutrients it needs. Following the LA Weight Loss program is easy and can be done in five steps. Along with the meal plan you will be purchasing bars and nutrition supplements. For those that don’t live in an area with physical LA Weight Loss Centers, you can complete the program online. Your eating plan will vary depending on your current weight. There are additional products available including additional bars, protein shakes, snacks and a plateau breaking system. The five steps of the weight loss program include:
- Step 1: Use the 2-Day Kick Start plan on your first two days and then every 14 days while you are working towards reaching your goal weight. This stage uses the LA Weight Loss TakeOFF Juice. This juice prepares your body for weight loss and claims to help you get rid of pounds quickly.
- Step 2: This stage starts on your third day of the program and continues until you lose 20 pounds or reach your goal if it’s less than 20 pounds. During this stage you will be using the LA Rapid Results Diet System. You follow the food choices in your food guide that includes foods from the categories of proteins, vegetables, fruits, starches, dairy, fats, beverages, extras and LA Lites Bars. During this stage you will be eating six meals from your allowed menu.
- Step 3: Transition to the LA My Way Food Guide once you have lost 20 pounds. You stay on this stage until you reach your goal weight. Your LA My Way Food Guide includes a more expanded food list. This stage will allow you to continue your weight loss. If you feel more comfortable, you can stay with the eating guidelines of stage two until you reach your goal or are ready to move on.
- Step 4: Use LA Lites Bars every day throughout the program. These bars are said to be a crucial component of your success. They are designed to help reduce cravings and temptations. The bars are convenient and can be taken with you anywhere.
- Step 5: Use the LA SmartTrim Nutritionals with your diet program. These supplements are also said to be an integral part of the LA Weight Loss program. Previously, these supplements and the snack bars were the cause of a lot of scrutiny with the sales practices of the physical centers. Now when you order your program online, they are included. The supplements are specifically designed to give your body the needed nutrients to complete the program.
As part of the LA Weight Loss program, you'll be encouraged to get up and move. LA states that even a mild exercise regimen will yield results. The LA Weight Loss program is heavily based on the foods you eat along with their snack bars and nutrition supplements. You are encouraged to exercise at least three times per week to burn calories and increase your weight loss results. The type of exercise you do is left completely up to you, so finding something you like would be beneficial.
LA Weight Loss has created a program that is different from what they have previously used. You can do this program online without having to go to a center for your products. This is especially helpful because most of the centers have closed. It is important to notice that the bulk of what you are spending on this program each month is to pay for the required bars and nutrition supplements. For those that want to truly lose weight and keep it off, a healthy diet and exercise plan can get you there. Changing your eating habits and adding physical activity is the tried and true way to lose weight, and you won’t spend hundreds of dollars each month on snack bars and supplements.

What do you think would happen if we just started posting the plans that we have...such as I have all the info for the blue plan and I could post all that info and others could post the red, gold, and green plans...That way we could help others learn about the plans and support each other to continue. The plans are easy to follow and we can find alternatives to the lites and stuff...I really need the support to lose another 50 lbs...

This message is to the former employees of LA Weight Loss Clinics that have closed: Please contact me via email. I know there were many people affected by the abrupt closings of the LA Weight Loss Centers. Patients, employees & the franchisees. I have had many patients tell me they have been so successful on the program, but I know by experience the program is only half of component, the encouragers/motivators (you) are the other half and most important part of these successes. I have a business idea that may provide services back to the patients, a profitable business back to the franchisees and jobs back to the employees. Most people that have ever been employeed in the weight loss business LOVE what they do. And therefore are very valuable. You can reach me at .

I lost 110lbs on La weight loss and still continue to maintain for life even though my center in killeen texas has closed. I'm a little upset by the closing and the hundreds of participants that were losing weight, or learning how to maintain for life and had no support from the closing. There is supposed to be some sort of call center that is supposed to call each client each week to help "support" and send shipments of product to your doorstep. So why am I not receiving any of the calls? Good question I dont know either.

I started La weightloss a few years ago and lost 55 lbs in 3 mths, it was such a easy lifestyle change. I kept the weight off until I got pregnant and then went back. Unfortunatly they closed all the locations where I live so I was not able to continue but still utilize what I have learned.

I called Siegel, Katz, and one other person at the number provided on the blog below. I am a federal investigator and have told themt that if I do not recieve a call back in the next week I will contact my personal lawyer, as well as the US Attorneys office in PA. I doubt I will get anywhere.... but what a Piece of this Katz guy must be to run business like this. Like some of the blogs below I am wondering if there is anyother # to call to that doesn't go to a "full" mailbox.

Hello LA Weight Loss clients!
posted Nov 20th, 2008 4:47 pmI'm actually doing the Herbal Magic program right now and I know that they are offering any LA weight loss clients specials on their programs. Hopefully this makes it easy for people to change to their program, because their program is a really great one also! So I say check out your local Herbal Magic!

Holy cow, Finally someone called, nine or ten calls later. I was told to fax my copy of my agreement and receipt over. Now this is going to be good, something I have not seen for two or three years who knows where it might be. I did complaint to her about my poor counselor lack of informations to there clients. If my well trained counselor would have told us this was going to take place I would have had all this mess fixed and my refund in the bank account ready for the next weight loss program.

Hi There
posted Nov 19th, 2008 8:25 pmI am so sad to have read all of the comments about the centers closing.
As an employee for La-weight loss in Toronto Canada I must say it is true. All of our Toronto Markets were just told over a conference on Monday Nov 3rd 2008 at 6pm by our corporate head office in the US (same one as stated in another blog) that our centers will be closing within the next 4 weeks.
The way this was done was just not right, they keep going on about how our clients come first and to try and get them on the la-on the go program before we shut down. And in the next breath we have been told to throw out all the before and after pictures of the clients (very sad). We too also told that we were not to say anything to the clients about the close and that they would be getting a letter about the center closing on their next visit in.
My heart goes out to all of the clients in Canada and the US.
I was a client before I started working there and have been in your seat as a client so I know what you all must be feeling.
The program does work!
I lost my 25 lbs and 16 inches
As a now unemployed single mother of La weight loss I just wish they went about this in a different manner, at least they could have given us a heads up on what was coming.
I’m sure I will have a great Christmas this year.
Thank you for letting me post
A devoted La counselor from Toronto Who loves her job

I joined La Weight Loss in August and in 13 weeks have lost 34 pounds. I gave birth earlier this year and was driving myself crazy trying to lose the weight and to no avail. It cost me 5.99 a week and there was no pressure to buy the bars, though I did buy ten weeks worth and since giving them up, have lost more weight more quickly. The plan is very easy and the ladies are very supportive. When I hit a three week plateau, I was very discouraged but the ladies kept assuring me that the weight would come off and to stick to the diet and I did. At the end of my plateau, I dropped 6 pounds in one week. Had I been dieting on my own I would have reached for the junk food out of discouragement of trying so hard with no results. When I joined La, I went in saying I wasn't going to spend more than $10 a week on my diet and I wound up getting a really good deal at 5.99 a week. I signed up for the year and will reach my goal before the end of the year which means I'll have extra support as I go into the maintenance phase of the diet. Having never struggled with weight before my pregnancies, I never understood the frustration people feel as they hopelessly try to lose the weight. I felt so alone. When I joined LA, I felt like I had a team behind me, giving me tips along the way, feeling accountable, and motivation to keep going to reach my goal. For me, this diet worked. I am proof that if you follow the actual menu plan set out, with or without bars, you will reach your goal. Good Luck to everyone out there trying to reach their ideal weight whichever route you take. Remember, it never hurts to go into LA, tell them what your willing to spend, and have them make a deal with you. You would never buy a house and pay the asking price, so why go in and not expect to make a deal with them. In the end, it is your money and you are the one in control of giving them your money, and let's face it, they still want your business. Don't buy the bars, they are just sugar. Opt for the plan without them and buy the cook book if you need a sweet every now and again as there are recipes for cheesecake and brownies in there. Hope this helps future LA weight lossers.

Well are we getting somewhere. I called the Twin Falls, Id center where they were more helpful then the Billings or Great falls, MT centers. I was given some contact names and more numbers. I was told it might take up to eight weeks for my refund. The Twin Falls, ID closed it door last Friday nov 14th. One more number to try 866-359-9303. so, I called it and guess what the message box is full - now aint the suprising. It seem like to me the counslers could have told us, more so we could have prepared better. I would like a human more the a push buttom switchboard to talk too. I think the next message I leave might involve a lawyer, if things do speed up. Or Maybe sick the big bad Micheal Moore on them...
