BACKGROUND

With constant evolution in the diet world, it can become quite complicated to find the right nutrition and fitness plan. Well, look no further than eDiets.com. For more than 10 years, these dedicated dieting experts have provided a place where you can quickly find the plan that's right for you, specifically created to your unique needs.

At eDiets.com, you'll find a variety of more than 20 popular plans like Atkins and the Mediterranean Diet.

eDiets.com will provide you with a fully personalized health assessment. Prior to joining, you'll complete a complimentary diet profile that reviews your weight, height, age and gender, as well as favorite foods, exercise and other lifestyle factors to help guide them to find the best-suited diet regiment for you. Plus, you'll have access to eDiets.com's roster of nutritionists, fitness experts, psychologists and more.

FOOD and RECIPE

As a member of eDiets.com, you'll receive grocery lists, recipes and weekly menus as part of a custom meal plan. You'll also have 24/7 access to eDiet.com's online support boards and live chats with nutritionists.

Most recently, they've launched the eDiets Deliciously Yours program. It's a meal-delivery service that promises fresh food that you personally choose from it's chef-created menu. Rather than receive a month's worth of food that can sit on your pantry shelves like other meal delivery services, Deliciously Yours delivers weekly. This ensures higher quality food that can be adjusted to your mood each week.

EXERCISE

You have access to animated exercises and fitness experts who are at your disposal.

EXPENSE

The plan price is just $3.99 per week, quite a savings when compared with national chain brands. The Deliciously Yours program offers the first week free, and 5 days for $99 after that.

PRO

- Plenty of diet plans to choose from

- Menus are customized to your preferences

- Online access is flexible

- Access to nutrition and fitness experts

- Online community with other like-minded dieters for support

- Reasonably priced

CON

- eDiets has plenty of info-packed newsletters, but it’s not so easy to find them through the site

- Deliciously Yours is relatively new and still working through some customer service issues

CONCLUSION

The nutritionists and fitness experts at eDiets are right at your fingertips by email and online chats. It’s a wonderful thing to have access to when you’re trying to lose weight. All the resources you'd spend a lot more time driving to, scheduling appointments and spending money on can all be found in one very succinct location online- eDiets.com.

Jules:  Oooh! I like this already! Just four bucks and they give you all of that? I love that it has recipes and grocery lists that always makes it so much easier. One less thing to stress over.

Summer:  very cool. i think it all sounds great except that there are only 20 diets? Obviously there are more than that, doesn't seem like it offers alot of variety.

Anonymous:  i lost 20 lbs with e diets but i gained it all back once i went off.

Anonymous:  Where has ediets gone. I have tried for the last 2 days to access the ediet site. At first I thought I'd made an error, then I realized that it just wasn't available. They say on the site (if you don't get an 404 error) that they are doing maintenence. I am concerned. Have they gone under?

Anonymous:  I just saw their commercial on cable television and thought I'd give them a try. Unfortunately, I'm getting the same results when trying to access their on line web site???? Wonder where they went??

Anonymous:  the site has majically reappeared. And it looks new - must have launched a new site

Kathy:  I tried this diet for 4 weeks. Some weeks they sent the food late. Another week they just didn't send it at all. They are impossible to reach by phone. I've had to hold for almost an hour every time I try to call. They said they were having technical difficulties, causing the mailing problems and that this is in turn impacting the phones. I don't really care. I signed up so I wouldn't have to think about my diet.

Karen A:  eDiets has blewn it big time! I was a member from 2002 until 2008 and I loved the recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists you could edit. They revamped the Website on Feb 12, 2008 and it still isn't working, nearly 2 months later! The meal plans print in a teeny tiny font you can't see without reader glasses. The shopping list appeared, uneditable, and reappeared editable, but it disappeared again on Mar 12 and it hasn't come back yet. There is no one there in the live chat. If you email them, you get an auto-reply and then nothing. I have emailed and called with poor satisfaction. I finally called to cancel and they said I had already cancelled in January! I didn't! I am still being billed monthly. I wrote a letter and mailed it. I hope they cancel me soon and this is over. SparkPeople.com is VERY cool and it's free, so I am losing weight there now.

Denise S:  I just got off the phone for the second time with Ediets.com and I would have to say DO NOT USE THEM! After 5 weeks of being on the meal delivery program, they stopped sending me the meals, yet continued to charge my card. When I called customer service, I was told they never charged me, then charged me again and never sent the food. I finally told them to cancel my membership. I am still trying to get all the money refunded to me that they took and never provided me with food.

Anonymous:  Summer - Only 20 diets? That's a pretty big variety for me :) Anyway, eDiets has been great so far, and definitely worth the small weekly cost. I find that their recipe planning shopping list actually saves me money on groceries since I stick to it and don't buy more than I need. No more spoiled food in the fridge!
