Metabolife

The supplement survived an FDA probe to continue its boast of appetite control.

BACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

Metabolife has been surrounded with a firestorm, due to the original product containing ephedra. Ephedra can be harmful to the body and is known to cause insomnia, rapid heartbeat, heart attack, stroke, seizure, nervousness and high blood pressure.

Metabolife offers a variety of products now containing new ingredients that still claim to control your appetite, burn fat and lose weight.

Diet and Nutrition

The Metabolife website has a modest list of recipes. The site also has articles on nutrition.

EXERCISE

The Metabolife website has a small list of exercise articles.

CONCLUSION

While the Metabolife product has lived a controversial story, the plan still boasts being the answer to control your appetite, burn fat and lose weight. The FDA does not support these promises by Metabolife.

My 18 yr old dau was released from the hospital yesterday after a very serious reaction to Metabolife Ultra. She is healthy and on no other medications. She took it for 48 hours. She developed neurological symptoms including numb tongue, slurred speech, blurred vision and paralysis of her right arm. After many, many expensive tests, her neurologist diagnosed her with a severe reaction to this product. Her symptoms have resolved, except after 3 days, she still has no feeling in her arm. There are better ways to loose weight and have more energy.....healthy and safely.

To the previous comment. You are an idiot and of course overdosing will make you not like any product. Doesn't the bottle say "do not exceed 6 pills a day... Retard

I started taking metabolife in December 1999 and stopped taking it in June 2000. I went from a size 14 to a size 10. I felt confident and the only problem that I had with the pill was that sometimes, it made my heart race. Other than that, I will take it again of course Ephedra free.

I took metabolife about 2 years ago, for 3 months and lost almost 30 pounds but I was also exercising and dieting. Once I stopped taking it, I started gaining the weight back slowly but I got it all back... but I will start using it again b/c I know it did work.. I just hope the new one would do the same.

I had the origional formula when I was a teen during the 90's, I liked it then. I started taking again recently and I have no problems with it.

This just didn't work for me. I took it the way the directions said and followed the nutrition program and didn't lose any weight. That's just me though. I think things work differently on people.

I like the energy it gives me. I ran out yesterday and noticed that I wanted to take a nap at noon. I bought some more and felt so much better today. I only take it in the morning because it keeps me up late if I take it in the afternoon.

I loved it before they pulled it off shelves and changed the formula. Just one person had to ruin it for the rest of us that liked and asctually worked!

Wondering?

I use to take this pill during my soccer season for the extra energy. It helped boost my ability at games and practices, but I never lost any weight because I didn't follow with a eating plan. After soccer ended, I stopped.

After doing research on it and the side effects I think that once I go back to school, I am going to start taking it again. I'm sixteen years old, 5'4 and 168 pounds. I've never been a "skinny" girl before and I'd like to drop some weight and get in better fitness before my next soccer season arrives. I said during school because after school hours, I run up to two miles a day, and weight lift afterwards with a few soccer buddies of mine. And so far, doing that has dropped a couple pounds off of me, but I want more. Should I start again or not?

I find it very hard to start a diet (change my eating habits).Metabalife gives the kickstart that I need. I go up and down with my weight and meatblife helps maintain. When I first start to take them,it gives me so much energy. I move more and eat better it really curbs my appetite. After about a month or so I have lost 10 or more lbs. and I use less and less. When I feel my eating habits start to get under control I stop using them. It has alot to do with you wanted to lose the weigh and making life style changes. When you say to yourself enough is enough. You have to recognize what triggers your eating. For me it's stress or boredom. I have always been happy with the results.

I took it many years ago and maintained weight loss. I stopped because I became pregnant. I'm currently taking metabolife again after a few years and it is a wonder pill. It curbs my appetite and gives me loads of energy to chase my 3 year old around.

For everyone who said they took it a few years ago and had negative results or health problems, THAT WAS A FEW YEARS AGO. They took Metabolife off the market b/c of the ephedra. It now does not contain ephedra b/c ephedra is not FDA approved. They revamped it so now your butt should not bleed.

I took this for a month a year ago. It helped me lose 10 pounds! I also included exercise and eating healthy in with this. Then I stopped I gained all the weight back in about a month and a half. I also stopped eating right and exercising like I did. For some reason this stuff made me sick and have rectal bleeding. This is the reason I stopped taking it. My doctor recommended to stop taking it because it was the cause of my anal bleeding. Finally a year later I went in for my physical and I was talking to my doctor about this making sure everything is ok. He told me to try for a month just exercising like I was and eating right. Sure enough after a month I had lost ten pounds again! The metabolife didn't make a difference for me at all!! The best method is exercise and eating right because we all know that your weight depends on 80% of what you eat 10% exercise and 10% genetics! Exercise eat right and if you stop you wont put the weight back on like if you quit taking pills.

I am ok with it. It does scare me to take them, but I feel that the product has helped me loose weight. I was just wondering if what the 9 year old girl wrote was true and if so, was because of the pills?
