BACKGROUND

The Martha's Vineyard Diet is a detoxification program written by author Dr. Roni DeLuz. DeLuz is a naturopath, RN and certified hypnotherapist. Her exclusive holistic retreat is located in the exclusive Martha's Vineyard.

DeLuz recommends and prescribes to her patients that each year they spend 21 days detoxifying their bodies, as she claims our world causes us to ingest too many toxins. This can be done in one 21 day period, or can be broken up into three separate weeks, or even weekends. It is because of this time frame that the Marthas Vineyard Diet is also known as the 21 pounds in 21 days diet. She goes into greater detail about the program in her hot new book, "21 Pounds in 21 Days: The Martha's Vineyard Detox Diet."

The program benefited from a boost of notoriety in June of 2007, when Robin Quivers of the "Howard Stern Show" used her strong presence in the media to celebrate her own success of losing an astonishing 20 pounds in just 10 days during an appearances on Larry King Live and The View.

The Martha's Vineyard Diet book made a strong debut on New York Times Bestseller list in July 2007- thanks in part to the Larry King Live The View appearances.

susie:  I went on the Martha Detox diet and have lost 24 pounds in the last three weeks. I had a really hard time on the weekend when my husband was home and I wanted to be cooking for him but he would eat my soup with me at dinner. You really need lots of personal support but this diet is wonderful and followed diet wise the weight falls off quickly. I didnt do any of the colonics and such.... only ate the foods that are in the diet book. I really learned I wasnt so hungry all the time just anxious or wanting food for emotional reasons. This diet really helps you to deal with your emotions and why you over eat ..... I am going to continue one meal a day on the plan and the rest will be sensible eating. I have never lost weight this quickly.
