Mariah Carey has been a superstar singer for many years. Always being in the public eye typically results in a lot of scrutiny, especially where weight and appearance are concerned. Mariah has had some challenges keeping her weight where she would like it over the years. She has tried some different methods for weight loss like most of us, and achieved great results through healthy methods. In the past, Mariah has worked with personal trainers and nutritionists to lose weight, but she recently tried a different approach. Mariah gained a large amount of weight during her recent pregnancy while carrying twins. After delivering the babies via C-section, she partnered with the Jenny Craig Corporation, now called Jenny, to lose weight.

By trimming down her calories to 1,500 per day and incorporating four to five days of exercise per week she was able to lose weight and is now wearing a size 4/6. Through using Jenny, Mariah was able to lose 30 pounds in just three months. She worked hard to stay on track, ate the meals provided and cooked some meals at home, which is part of the program. Her success has sparked her becoming the latest spokesperson for the popular weight loss chain.

As a celebrity trying to lose weight, Mariah Carey has been very open over the years about the methods that have been most helpful to her. With some of her previous weight loss methods, she’s done things like eliminating butter from her diet, prepared foods with light amounts of olive oil and avoided snacks. With her current Jenny plan, she keeps her calories to about 1,500 per day. Mariah mixed some of the Jenny meals with some she prepared at home on her own. She has also admitted in the past that she participates in the “morsel diet” which allows her to take one or two small bites of her favorite food. This method allows her to get a taste of her favorite items, like macaroni and cheese or fried chicken, without taking a huge calorie hit. A sample day of eating for Mariah is reflected below:

Mariah Carey has used exercise to help her get into shape with previous diets and this time is no different. Some of her old routines were specifically created by her personal trainer to help her reach her goals. In the past, Mariah spent 90 minutes most days of the week working out. Now with the Jenny program, Mariah has done mostly aquatic workouts for about 45 minutes four to five days each week. Mariah’s workout regimen along with her diet shows that you don’t have to kill yourself at the gym to get results. With the Jenny program, each individual has the chance to create their own activity plan.

By using the Jenny program and exercise, she’s shown that you can get results without having a celebrity budget for personal trainers or professional chefs. Although Mariah Carey did use a personal trainer and nutritionist in the past to lose weight, that wasn’t her method this time. This works!!..Although I've also found that for the first couple of weeks i have to cut out (not only) butter, but also my dairy and and white breads and pasta's...which leaves you with all the delicious fruits and veggies your heart desires!!..thanks Mariah!!..i'm a big fan..now only if you could teach me to sing like you!!

I think this is the perfect way to lose weight. If you exercise and work hard at losing the weight, you have stronger will power to not eat junk. It being the holidays and all I can't help it... Working full time and being a full time student and putting up with a boyfriend has put alot of stress on me... But here comes the new year and Mariah will be my inspiration... Isn't she amazing!?!

i completely support this diet/exercise plan,its a great way to live a healthy,active life-ive never felt better-lost 23,have 18 to go and i have no problem sticking to it -i splurge a little on a holiday or party-thats enough-and it really makes me feel a little queasy when i do-i work out at home ,buy groceries at wal mart-it does not cost any more than regular living-probably less because i rarely eat out.THANK YOU MARIAH!!

Her diet is nothing new. It is "Fit For Life". Proper food combining, never mixing a protein or a starch (carb) at the SAME meal. I love this way of eating, you don't feel bloated, it's easy especially for eating out. I've lost 60lbs.

I saw her on Oprah and she looked AMAZZZINGG!! She's gorgeous. I can't afford the trainer- but I can defintely afford to skip butter. I like the morsel Idea too. Awesome Mariah! Love you!!
