Lemonade Diet
The fasting diet the stars are drinking up.
The Master Cleanser Diet, also known as The Lemonade Diet, is a fasting plan that will shed pounds quickly. The diet was created by Stanley Burroughs more than 50 years ago. Burroughs, a proponent of varying alternative health remedies, had no medical or nutritional training.
The Lemonade Diet claims that its fasting technique rids the body of toxins that are induced by bad diet, lack of exercise and "negative mental attitudes." But where does the lemonade come into play? Well, that's all your going to ingest for 7-10 days. The magic elixir, purported to have been used by celebrities like Beyonce, Denzel Washington and Robin Quivers (of the Howard Stern Show) has grown in popularity, evidenced by the user video diaries that can be found on sites like YouTube.
- Fast weight loss, although there are no scientifically proven benefits to the Lemonade Diet, but that's obviously going to happen when you starve yourself
- There is no medical evidence that cleansing diets work to rid the body of toxins
- It's a short-term solution to something that needs to be a lifetime change
- The Lemonade Diet, like all extended fasts, can have adverse effects on your organ function and metabolism.
The Lemonade Diet has fasters drink anywhere from 6 to 12 glasses of lemonade daily. The maple syrup diet recipe for the concoction is as follows:
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice or lime juice
- 2 Tbsp. real maple syrup
- 1/10 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 8 oz. water
Exercise is not addressed on The Lemonade Diet. And how could you properly exercise when you are fasting on a liquid diet?
Fasting, or "cleansing" diets, are fantastic bait for people looking for a quick fix to their weight woes. It's why celebrities are drawn to it. Maybe any possible health risks are okay for them, since they can write it off as a danger they take on for their career. But for the rest of us who should be thinking about a lifetime solution, look for something you can live with forever.

I did this diet for nine days and felt cold and week most of the time. I lost 3.5 kg , but I wasent doing it to lose weight anyway. I don't feel detoxed or energized. I'm glad it's over and I hope I don't have to drink anymore of that lemon stuff for a very long time.

I have completed the Master Cleanse diet once before and am on my second time around. The first time I did lose some weight, mainly water weight, but also lost inches. I know this is not for everyone, but most healthy individuals would benefit if even for a 3 day fast.

It's "Traditional Medicinals, Organic Herbal Laxative, Smooth Move Senna". I buy it at Zehres in the organic food section. It tastes pretty good too! What have you been using?

To answer a lot of questions that have been posted I would suggest purcashing "The Master Cleanser" book by Stanley Burroughs. The book is very detailed on the vitamins contained in the natural lemon juice and grade B maple syrup. It is very important that you use all natural ingredients. Per his book you can remain on the diet for 10-40days but a minimum of 10 days. It is very specific that you are not to consume ANY food during the cleanse. "I know from personal experience trying to cheat here and there will end you up in the bathroom even more". There are all of the essential vitamins and calories in the lemonade if you make it right with the right things. The salt water is important and flushes out your system when drinking the tea (i use smooth move tea) at night. But one thing I would suggest is give yourself time in the morning. This is a colon cleanse and believe me you will need the extra time. He also suggests that you only do this a couple of times a year. I am currently on my secend go around for the year and lost 17pounds in 15days the last time. I have kept it off with healthy eating and excersize. Another thing that is important with this cleanse is that you drink a minimum of 64oz of lemonade and 64oz of water every day. Don't give up the 1st couple of days are rough and then you really start to feel great. Hope this helps!

Hi
posted Apr 9th, 2009 1:58 pmTo start on the lemonade diet you need:
Sea Salt
Maple B Syrup
Organic lemons
Since this diet is mainly for cleansing its best to go on with organic than with processed lemon juice. You can get the maple b syrup anywhere online. Sea salt is iodised salt that will not make you gain any water retention.

I will start doing it tomorrow but I will probably mix it up a bit of fresh fruit maybe a cup if I get hungry, my goal is to lose 10-15lbs in 7 days. I will let you all know how it goes.

So I just started this yesterday. I expected to wake up starved this morning, however I woke up feeling great! It also might help that I have lost 5lbs already! However I haven't been doing the salt water wash. I am terrified at the though of it! Any input on how the cleanse works without the salt water?
