BACKGROUNDBACKGROUND Start the Diet Now Advertisement

The Fitbit Tracker is the latest as the high tech gadget world meets the world of health and fitness. The Fitbit is a tiny wireless clip that you attach anywhere on your body or an article of clothing.

The Fitbit works in the same way that the Wii by Nintendo works: a motion sensor inside the clip, senses your motion in three dimensions and converts this into useful information about your daily activities. The Fitbit measures the intensity and duration of your physical activities, calories burned, steps taken, distance traveled, how long it took you to fall asleep, the number of times you woke up throughout the night and how long you were actually asleep versus just lying in bed.

You can see the calories you’ve consumed and the steps you’ve taken. If you walk within 25-50 feet of the provided base station, your data will automatically upload to the Fitbit website. Once you log in to the website, you can see your data profile for the day, including energy expenditure and input and even collaborate with friends or family on your health goals.

The Fitbit software runs on Mac OS X and Windows XP/Vista.

DIET and NUTRITIONDIET and NUTRITION

The Fitbit is a tool that can be used in conjunction with a diet or just on its own for individuals who want to know more about how their body utilizes energy. The Fitbit software allows you to log the foods you ate for the day and view the total calories you consumed in comparison to the calories that you burned during your daily activities.

It does not include recipes or a guide on how to eat, but the software does contain the nutrition information of thousands of food items by brand and from restaurants.

EXERCISEEXERCISE

The Fitbit is also a pedometer that is 95-97% accurate for counting steps. In addition to the Fitbit measuring the steps you take every minute, you can also log the types of activities that you did during the day. For instance, if you ran on the treadmill for 20 minutes, the calories you burned would be measured against the amount of calories you consumed for the day.

The Fitbit does not include any specific exercise routines for you to follow.

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION

The Fitbit is a small technological gadget that is used to understand how your body burns calories. It is a weight loss or healthy living tool that can help you stay on track with your health goals while using the latest in motion sensor technology. Studies show that individuals who log what they eat and how much they exercise daily are more likely to reach their ideal weight and sustain it.

The Fitbit does not include a diet or exercise program to follow, but it can effectively be used in combination with a specific diet plan.
