wii fit plusThe new Wii Fit Plus is the latest creation by Ninetendo and features all of the bells and whistles of one of the top-selling home entertainment games of all time.

Just released during the first week of October, the Wii Fit Plus has a few added tricked-out features which will help inspire even the glued-to-the-television couch-potatoes to stand up, press play and get moving.

The latest version includes more exercises like three additional yoga, three additional strength-training workouts and mini-games to its original menu of workouts, in addition to expert guidance that teaches you how to get the most calorie burn out of your workout.

Jillian Michaels to Release Fitness Ultimatum 2010 for Wii and DS

jillian michaels fitness ultimatum 2010Just in time for fall, Jillian Michaels is adding to her Wii Fit library with the Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2010 for Wii and Jillian Michaels’ Pocket Trainer 2010 for Nintendo DS.

As a follow-up to her Fitness Ultimatum 2009, this new game challenges players to a Hell Week-style boot camp featuring one-on-one workouts and all-new core exercises in cardio training, strength training, and balance training super-set routines. The game includes new additions like the “Fitness Resolution” in which you plan your six-month workout routine with a training schedule and the “Exercise with Jillian” component, which provides you with a one-on-one game with a 3D avatar of Jillian Michaels that demonstrates pre-made or custom routines.

EA Sports Active – On Tour

ea sports activeWe recently had the pleasure of joining EA for their Sports Active media event in New York City. The event started with a demo of the EA Sports Active game/workout product. Following the demo they allowed attendees to play the units and experience the workout intensity. The workouts require the use of an occasional resistance band and the leg strap for the Wii controller, which are included with purchase. If you have purchased the Wii Fit, you can also use your balance board for a number of the workouts. The balance board, although, is not required for any of the EA Sports Active workouts.

Is Wii a Medical Liability?

Nintendo is selling the Wii game system like hot cakes. The company, which introduced the Wii in November 2006, sold more than 10 million of the game systems in the United States last year. It’s been largely touted for getting people active while playing video games. But with that activity comes a hefty medical price.wii_fit

There’s an interesting New York Times article on the widespread injuries inflicted upon Wii enthusiasts. The author even reports a pop in his left shoulder after playing Wii tennis.

If you’re not familiar with the Wii phenomenon, gamers use a handheld, wireless remote where you mimic the motion of the activity in the video game. This could include tennis, boxing, bowling, among others.
