Tune-in tomorrow, Tuesday, November 10, to Sesame Street to catch first lady Michelle Obama participating in the show’s 40th anniversary season premiere.

Michelle Obama will be featured in a segment with four young children and introduce the idea of vegetable gardening. She’ll show them, and Big Bird, how planting seeds in the ground will yield fresh, healthy vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes and lettuce.

Last week Michelle Obama announced childhood obesity as one of the issues she would focus on, and Sesame Street is a fitting place to share that message, encouraging young children to eat a balanced diet that includes many vegetables.

It’s also fitting segment as the first lady introduced the first White House vegetable garden since Eleanor Roosevelt. A recent episode of Biggest Loser showed contestants harvesting vegetables from that garden to make a delicious and fresh White House Salad.

Tune-in for a blast of nostalgia, or with your kids and introduce a new generation to this iconic children’s show that has taught the ABCs and 123s to a global audience for nearly half a century.

Back are fitness and health expert Jessie Pavelka and psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser as they guide this season’s tribe to making healthy changes in their lives and overcome many of the personal obstacles that have prevented them from losing weight.

Season 2 follows five friends for 120 days as they work together to motivate each other to endure some of the toughest workouts of their lives and adhere to the clean-eating plan they must follow in order to lose the 35-50 pounds that Jessie has challenged them with. In addition, the women must also compete in a triathlon at the end of their four-month journey.

Here’s a sneak peak at the colorful cast of characters that make up DietTribe’s Season 2 tribe:

Sisters Stephanie Taulealea and Tiffany Young have done pretty much everything together including sharing poor eating habits and enduring gastric bypass surgery. Having gained all of the weight back following the procedure, the sisters are committed to taking control of their weight and their lives, once and for all. Learn more about Stephanie and Tiffany from DietsInReview’s personal interview with them.

LaNessa Watson is the only non-mom of the tribe, but it was her rallying that inspired her four other friends to consider joining DietTribe. LaNessa is determined to lose 50 pounds and her low self-esteem, both of which have been weighing her down her whole life.

Mary Lasnier is finally putting herself first. This stay-at-home mom joins her friends in order to take control of her physical and emotional health after having just endured a painful divorce.

Rita Porter is a former athlete who desperately misses her once-fit self. Juggling motherhood and kids, Rita is also placing herself first in order to reclaim her athletic self and keep up with her husband and young children.

Season 2 premieres this Friday, October 2 at 9:00 p.m ET/PT.

DietsInReview.com will be watching all of the episodes and providing you with weekly updates of the tribe’s progress.

Sisters Stephanie Taulealea, 40, and Tiffany Young, 36, are more like twins than big and little sis. Both of them attended nursing school together, had a double wedding, moved into a home together with their husbands and even started having children at the same time. Both sisters also had gastric bypass surgery, but gained most of the weight back.

Stephanie and Tiffany are two of the five women that make up Lifetime’s DietTribe in season 2, which premieres this Friday, October 2.

Just like the first season, the weight loss reality show will follow the lives of five women for 120 days under the motivating fitness training instruction of Jessie Pavelka and the mental health support of psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser.

DietsInReview had a chance to talk to Tiffany (Stephanie got caught in traffic and was only able to catch the tail-end of the interview) just a few days before the premiere of their hit series. Here’s a recap of our conversation:

Reality Weight Loss shows are tough. Why did you decide to be on DietTribe?

(Tiffany) My whole life, I have always been a part of a tribe and I’ve always had a weight issue. A lot of people would like to be a part of a weight loss reality show and for me, DietTribe is so positive, and considering the direction my life was in, I was ready. I wanted to lose weight but I did not want to lose weight without my sister Stephanie losing weight also. We were supposed to do this journey together and we did.

What did you learn about yourself over the 120 days of the series?

I learned to take time out for myself as a mother, as a wife and as a working woman. I learned to do away with any guilt around this because making time to focus on myself and my health makes me better at everything I do. I also learned what it is like to take a challenge, accomplish a goal and feel your body burn, really burn, during a workout. Before I may have stopped once I felt that burn, but I learned that you can keep going and get passed it.

This season’s series has a new twist: You have to compete in a triathlon in addition to losing 50 pounds. What was that like?

My first thought about competing in a triathlon was that I’m not getting into a bathing suit! No way! But that changed once I started to really physically prepare and train. What was challenging was that we were also trying to lose weight. Most people when they are training for an event like this can eat carbohydrates. Since we were trying to shed pounds, we had to limit our carbs. But we learned so much about nutrition from doing both.

You and your sister had gastric bypass surgery and gained some or most of the weight back. How does the experience of being on DietTribe differ from weight loss surgery?

Gastric bypass surgery is a great tool for someone who is out of control and needs help. DietTribe taught us that healthy living is a lifestyle, not a diet. I know now how to eat clean and what it feels like to eat clean. I no longer want to eat until I’m stuffed. My skin feels more vibrant, my body looks completely different than from what it looked like after I had lost weight after surgery. And that is because of the lifestyle factors of eating right and exercising.

Tune in to DietTribe on Lifetime, this Friday, at 9 pm ET/PT to meet the entire tribe. DietsInReview will also recap each episode once it airs in case you miss one.

We’ve known for a while that her beloved dog Lucy was not well, as her kidneys were failing. Each night Ruby lovingly gave her shots for treatment, and she and friends prepared for the worst. The relationship Ruby has with her dogs is as definitive of man’s best friend as you’ll find. “I don’t think I’ve ever had love like they give me,” Ruby tearfully remarks.

Her roommate and close friend Jeff said that Lucy’s loss would be “like losing a child for her.” In this episode, Lucy does leave Ruby and it’s one of those emotional hurdles that has Ruby questioning if she’ll end up throwing away all of her hard work thus far.

Friends gathered for a memorial service for Lucy, and Ruby’s ex-boyfriend now turned friend, Denny, arrived to help her cope. He said that Ruby always told him that the dogs have no concept of how much bigger she was than other people, and that they just offered unconditional love.

Best friend Georgia was proud of Ruby, as she said this time Ruby “didn’t fall into a big pot of spaghetti, instead she fell into church.” Which is exactly where the two friends went the night after Lucy’s funeral. Ruby is confident that this time she’s going to deal with the pain and the emotions, rather than turning to food.

On the high end, Ruby got to enjoy one of her favorite evenings – Women’s Fat Night. It’s a support group of friends who are each battling their own weight issues. They meet to talk through mishaps and successes and gain motivation and support from one another. Ruby has the bright idea that their next meeting should be an extended one and they’d call it the first Women’s Fat Night Workshop.

In the first part of the workshop, the women shared diet gimmicks that didn’t work, like the sexy stripper workout or the Thighmaster. Then, they each shared a diet tip that has worked for them, like eating more slowly and stopping when you start to feel full. Another woman started a quilt, and for each pound she loses, she adds a square.

Next, Ruby’s doctor, Dr. Bradley, volunteered to host the event in his home and have the OurLife Health chefs attend to show the women how to prepare fast, simple, delicious and healthful meals. They enjoyed sampling the food prepared by Gene and Blair, who recommended the use of olive oil, fresh herbs, and making sure meals were colorful (meaning more nutritious).

Finally, at Dr. Bradley’s recommendation, the women were joined by Sandy Baker, a food addiction specialist who has herself lost 135 pounds and kept it off for more than four years. She taught the women that emotional eating is when you eat instead of feeling. The women vowed to continue to support one another.

He took a tough and almost scrutinizing look at all women peppering them with serious questions about commitment, marriage and children. Tension was high, particularly during the elimination ceremony where Anna was not given her ring back.

As he walked her out, Luke confessed that he had a hard time envisioning a romantic relationship with the plus-sized model and instead felt that the foundation of their relationship was that of friends, not as romantic partners.

With just three women left, Luke surprised his love square with a trip to Hawaii. Told to pack their bags just minutes after the elimination ceremony ended, the three remaining girls were whisked away to the island the following day where they will spend their time frolicking along the ocean and swimming with the dolphins as Luke narrows his decision.

After next week’s episode, the two remaining women will meet Luke’s parents.

DietsInReview.com will bring you all of the details of this decision-breaking meeting.

Here is a recap of this conversation, just one day following the season finale of this weight loss competition series.

DIR: How has the show changed your life?

Ruben: It sounds corny, but it changed my life and everyone else’s on the show. I was the oldest contestant by at least 11 years and I fully committed to what would happen. I knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I committed to it. I took advantage of all the nutritionists, doctors and motivation and it paid off. I am still taking dance classes and I do it for myself because it’s fun, not for the competition aspect of it.

An exercise video is going to come out where people can learn the dances, have fun, sweat and lose the pounds all from their living room.

DIR: What is your current weight?

Ruben: I lost over 70 pounds since the show ended, but all of the weight loss success stories from the 12 contestants will be revealed on next week’s reunion show.

DIR: Will there be another Dance Your Ass Off?

Ruben: We don’t know yet, but it looks good and we really hope so. We hope that the show has another opportunity to change more people’s lives.

DIR: How did you feel your body changed throughout the show?

Ruben: After the first week, I was ready to quit the series with no soda, no sugar, no junk food. I lost 14 pounds my first seven days of the show. We worked really closely with the medical doctors and dietitians on the show and we listened to them and trusted what they were trying to teach us.

Food used to be such a reward for me after a long day of work, I would stop at fast food drive-thru and order my dinner from the dollar-menu. But in this controlled environment, I no longer had that reward system so I had to look beyond food to unwind.

What are you going to do with the $100,000 prize money?

I’m going to sit on most of the money given today’s economy, but my partner John and I will take a vacation to some remote and beautiful island and I’ll be able to finally take my shirt off on the beach and show off my 25-year-old body even though I’m 44-years old.

What was the single-most important thing you learned from the show?

To put myself first.

Stay tuned as DietsInReview.com recaps next week’s reunion show, which will reveal the weight loss success stories of all 12 Dance Your Ass Off contestants.

The final three, Ruben, Shayla and Pinky took the stage one last time and hopped on the scales for their final weight loss tally.

So who won the coveted $100,000 prize?

Ruben!

For Ruben, it was the combination of his dance moves (he has a background in dance) and his extraordinary weight loss. During the course of the show, Ruben dropped almost 60 pounds and went from a BMI of 42 (obese Class III) to 33 (0bese I). In addition to his cash prize, Ruben will also star in the first ever Dance Your Ass Off workout DVD.

Tune in for one last episode next week when all 12 contestants return to show off their weight loss, which they have kept going despite their elimination earlier in the series.

As the competition for Luke’s coveted gold rings gets fiercer, the claws of the six remaining girls sharpen. Kristian confessed to being heartbroken if she was not given another ring and also bared her soul by professing her love to Luke. Mandy commented that she would “break” if she was not given a ring and Tali shared her feelings of being emotionally and mentally exhausted during this entire ordeal.

During the elimination ceremony, Luke declined to give rings to Kristian and Heather. In a moment of drama and genuine concern, he ran out after a clearly distraught Kristian to provide some extra comfort and solace to her as she broke down in tears and confusion after the tense ceremony.

Remaining are Anna, Melissa, Mandy and Tali.

Tune in next week to find out who moves one step closer to discovering More to Love with Luke.
