They say there’s no such thing as bad publicity in Hollywood, but recent leaks of Mel Gibson’s rants don’t seem like they have much of an upside. From ethnic slurs to sexist obscenities, he’s managed to offend a lot of people. Is there still a silver lining to this story?
A gym in New Jersey thinks so. They’ve created the “Mad Mel” treadmill by putting Mel Gibson’s face on every treadmill. They’re hoping to get customers’ blood pumping by encouraging them to run on the actor/director’s face. So, if you’re mad at Mel, try to channel that outrage into a more energized work out.
The benefits of exercise have been touted in many ways. One of those is that you continue to experience benefits even when you are not in the act of exercising. For example, if you have more lean muscle mass, you burn more calories ’round the clock.
But these benefits may be even more powerful than once thought. A new study has found that 10 minutes of brisk exercise triggers metabolic changes that can last at least an hour after the fact. Dr. Robert Gerszten of Massachusetts General Hospital found that after 10 minutes of using the treadmill, there were metabolic changes 60 minutes later.
With her recent endorsement of the NordicTrack Incline Trainer, Jillian Michaels’ fitness empire grows again. She’s probably the biggest name in fitness and training right now. She’s got that rare star quality that if she says it, people listen. And in this case, that’s good, because she truly is making a difference in the health of our country.
The new treadmill from NordicTrack inclines by 40 percent, allowing you to burn calories five times as fast as you would while walking on a regular treadmill. In the opening scenes of the Biggest Loser seven premiere, Jillian screamed “take a walk!”, simply wanting people to get up and move more. This treadmill will do just that, by allowing you to turn a walk into a serious calorie-burning workout. Read Full Post >
Christmas time is here at last and shopping for the perfect gift is hard to do sometimes. I have a few friends that are shopping for treadmills this year and want to know which treadmill they should purchase. First, you need to figure out what you are looking for in a treadmill and what you will be using it for. Are you walking, jogging, or do you need incline or decline? Next, you need to find a treadmill that has the right motor/horsepower that can handle your body weight. And lastly, you need to find the best treadmill for the least amount of money. Be careful, you get what you pay for and sometimes the best treadmill costs a little more.
I have researched the treadmill market up and down and I have found that the Proform 4.5 is one of the best products for the least amount of money. I believe it is on sale for under $600. This treadmill is packed with features including a 2.75 horsepower motor which can handle up to three hundred pounds of weight, custom display, iPod dock with speakers, and a great warranty.
Finding the right treadmill is like finding the right workout; you need to find what works for you and go with it. Good Luck and feel free to ask if you have any questions!!
America is the land of ingenuity. You are free to invent anything you like, and if enough people are as intrigued by the idea as you, you can be an overnight success. For every inventor of the “Electric Knife,” or “Sliced Bread,” there is this: The Traveling Treadmill. Well, that’s not the official name. It is, in essence, what the creators of SpeedFit have wrought.
