Born Tara Leann Stiles on May 6, 1981 in Morris Illinois, Tara grew up with her only sibling, an older brother named Chad. After high school Tara attended the University of Chicago where she majored in dance and graduated in 2003. Shortly after graduating she was spotted by a modeling agent and signed by Ford Models, after which she moved to New York City to begin her career.
Tara found a love for yoga when Ford asked her to make a short promotional yoga video for the agency to post on YouTube. Her new-found passion pushed the model to take a 200-hour course to become a certified yoga instructor. She continued to model and make yoga videos, which generated millions of viewers and used social media to attract new students. Named the “Yoga Rebel” by the New York Times, Tara Stiles is an internationally recognized and influential yoga teacher based in New York City. She is the author of the book Slim Calm Sexy as well as the owner of Strala Yoga, a non-pretentious yet highly successful yoga studio in the big city. Tara Stiles has been referred to as “the coolest yoga instructor ever” by Vanity Fair. She is the founder of the New York-based yoga studio Strala and personal yoga instructor to Deepak Chopra.
As the face and resident expert of the Women’s Health Yoga Channel, Tara promotes the ideology of “yoga for everyone‚” and incorporating it into your everyday routine, whether you’re at the office or sitting on the couch. Tara is also the Yoga Master for the Master the Shift program, a national health initiative sponsored by Nissan.
As if Stiles wasn’t busy enough, she just released her new DVD, Yoga Anywhere: The New York Sessions, and she has a book out today called, Slim, Calm and Sexy.

When you think of Jane Fonda workouts, images of leg warmers and spandex leotards may come to mind. All that is about to change: Jane Fonda announced on her blog this week that she will be launching a series of fitness programs featuring “the new faces of fitness.”
The new celebrity team is made up of Karena Dawn, Katrina Hodgson, Tara Stiles, and Jeanette Jenkins. Karena Dawn and Katrina Hodgson will soon be opening the Tone It Up Studio in Hermosa Beach. Tara Stiles is a yoga expert who has a studio in Manhattan, where Fonda plans on taking a class this weekend. Jeanette Jenkins is the president of The Hollywood Trainer. “These are women you’ll be seeing more of,” the blog reports.
Just released to iTunes, Authentic Yoga with Deepak Chopra, featuring yoga teacher Tara Stiles, is the newest app from Signal Patterns. Deepak Chopra, bestselling author of more than 45 books, is recognized as a leader in self-help and alternative medicine. Tara Stiles is one of New York City’s leading yoga trainers and personally trains Dr. Chopra. The combination of these two experts started when they met at an event where he was speaking and she was leading a yoga class. After becoming friends and practicing yoga together, they collaborated on this new iPhone app to bring you a tool to help “cultivate a vibrantly healthy body, a clear and focused mind, and root you firmly into your own uniqueness.”
