Kirstie Alley is starting a national grassroots campaign to promote an active lifestyle for everyone called 100 Days of Dance. You can sign up online and pledge to dance for 30 minutes each day for 100 consecutive days starting on January 1, 2012.
Kirstie managed to lose some weight when she appeared on Dancing With The Stars, and her new 100 Days of Dance movement is her way of getting others to participate in the activity that helped her lose weight, in addition to what she’s lost with her brand Organic Liaison.
The 100 Days of Dance program, was created and sponsored by Organic Liaision, and features Kirstie Alley and dance director Sergey Onik. Both Sergey and Kirstie will be dancing each day and uploading videos on the 100 Days of Dance blog to keep participants motivated. Dancing is a great way to workout, stay active and lose weight all while having fun. (more…)
As we hurtle toward 2012, you may be feeling inspired and resolute to make this new year a new chance to create the life that you have always wanted or to improve on the life in which you already find so much joy. As we turn the calendar to an entirely new year, it seems easier to find hope and believe in possibilities. Unfortunately, experience has shown us how powerful habits can be, and despite our purest resolutions, most of the time our goals lose momentum before January ends. It is important to find the accountability or inspiration that can keep you on track to achieve whatever goals you have resolved to obtain in 2012.
Some find celebrity weight loss stories to inspire them to begin or stick with their own weight loss journeys. A 15-year old boy from Mississippi named Kris was inspired to drop his weight by Patrick House, winner of Season 10’s Biggest Loser. As reality television stars, those like Patrick may be more capable of inspiring us because it is easier for us to relate to them than it might be to relate to other successful celebrities. If we are able to identify with someone who has faced a similar challenge, we believe that we can experience similar results.
Writer Chamein Canton explains that her 60 pound weight loss “wasn’t inspired by Jennifer Hudson, Kirstie Alley, Valerie Bertinelli, Marie Osmond or anyone else. They were more frustrating to me than anything else because they could afford to take care of themselves with nutritionists, personal chefs, personal trainers and all of the other accoutrements that come with celebrity.” Chamein did not identify with the emotional struggles of temptation and habit change of these famous women because she saw the resources at their disposal. Despite these resources, we have watched celebs like Kirstie Alley and Oprah yo-yo gaining and losing weight over and over just like so many others who struggle with weight. This can be another aspect that helps us identify with a particular celebrity and his or her weight loss journey.
Who says that Halloween is only for candy-fueled kids who dress up as scary monsters and the latest comic book characters? Well, maybe most people say that, but it doesn’t have to be true this year for you.
Here’s our list of healthy Halloween costumes for 2011! Be a great influence on your kids, show off your fit bod, or give your favorite home town athlete some love by drawing costume inspiration from healthy sources. Don’t worry, you can still have a piece of candy or two.
Losing weight is no easy task and being a celebrity doesn’t mean it gets any easier. Kirstie Alley is one celebrity that has had her weight ups and downs, but has now achieved a huge milestone – she’s lost an amazing 100 pounds.
Kirstie has battled her weight publicly for years, but she got off to a serious start when she appeared on Dancing with the Stars last season. Alley dropped a large amount of weight and several inches over the course of the show as America watched. Kirstie didn’t stop there, though. She switched to an organic diet and used her personal weight loss program Organic Liaison to continue losing weight.
When speaking about her weight loss, Kirstie said, “I have more energy than I’ve ever had in my whole life.” Although she is now a size six, weighing in at 130 pounds, Kirstie’s weight topped out at 230 pounds just a couple of years ago. “There was nothing positive about being fat. Now I feel back to normal,” she said.
