To Hollywood’s Fit Dads, We Say Happy Father’s Day

Our here in the real world you can visit any park or farmers market on a Saturday morning and find a lot of hot dads. There’s something pretty swoon-worthy about a weekend-clad dad hanging out with his kids and giving them his undivided attention. These dads probably have to focus a little more to stay trim and fit compared to their celebrity counterparts. So if they’re looking for a Wahlberg or McConaughey body to help them tote the kids around, then we’ve got what they’re looking for.

Hollywood dads are some of the busiest in the bunch, and their bodies have to stay in tip-top shape if they’re going to keep bringing home the (lean turkey) bacon. We’ve rounded up our picks for the hottest dads in Hollywood this Father’s Day. Not only are they nice to look at, but they’ve prioritized their dad duties above their red carpet duties.

For each famous dad we’ve included a glimpse of how they workout so you can employ those practices at home, too.

Celebrate Dad with a Healthy Father’s Day Brunch

Father’s Day is this Sunday; are you ready to celebrate? If not, don’t fret because we’ve got you covered – food, drinks and all.

Instead of taking dad out to a restaurant this year and enduring long waits and noisy crowds, make a healthy, filling brunch at home to show him how much you care. After all, it takes a lot more planning and effort to prepare something yourself than to just cover the bill at a restaurant.

I don’t know about you but breakfast and brunch have always been special meals in our household. Growing up, we treated late-morning meals on the weekends as if were a sacred practice, taking the time to prepare homemade sausage, egg and cheese bagel sandwiches or carefully-crafted pancakes alongside mounds of fresh fruit and lots of warm maple syrup. And coffee? Always a must, especially in my sister and I’s older years. (more…)

Pack a Healthy Father’s Day Picnic for Dad this Weekend

Father’s Day is just around the corner and we’re getting ready to celebrate our dads the best way we know how – with food; and the healthier it is the better.

While most Americans will be grilling dad a burger or steak or taking him out to eat, we’re opting for a more original, creative and nature-centered meal: a picnic.

Picnics are great for many reasons: they’re low maintenance, casual, portable, leave room for creativity and can be incredibly healthy. Not to mention you get to eat in the great outdoors without a distraction – or cranky waitress – in sight. This scenario sounds kind of perfect to us, which is why we’re planning a healthy picnic for our own dad’s this upcoming Father’s Day weekend. (more…)

Men’s Health Week Inspires Healthier Fathers

male dieterThe week of June 15 is Men’s Health Week, dedicated to helping the special men in our lives take control of their health so that they’re with us for a long time. In the U.S. there are more than 73 million overweight or obese males, according to the American Heart Association. Obesity related diseases mean a diminished quality of life for these men, and often lead to death. This news should be sobering, as we prepare to celebrate the fathers in our lives this weekend.

This week we invited several fathers and men from around the blogosphere to share with you their personal stories of weight loss struggle and success. Weight loss can take on a very different tone for men than it does for women, but the end result is happier, healthier people.

We hope you’ll take to heart the message that these men are sharing, and make this Father’s Day the first of many more healthy holidays. (more…)

It’s now June 19, 2024, and I weighed in this morning at 340.65 pounds.  I’m almost down 30 pounds in two and a half months and I’m still dropping.  I’ve done one EA SPORTS Active 30-day challenge and I’m now doing a second. (more…)
