Marriage is one of the happiest events in a person’s life, which explains why divorce can be one of the most traumatizing. As with most celebrities going through splits, the media has flocked around the dramatic weight loss Jennie Garth has seen since her split from fromer husband and “Twilight” actor, Peter Facinelli.
It’s been five months now since Garth, made famous from her days on Beverly Hills, 90210, split from Facinelli. The divorce came after 17 years together as a couple, 11 of which were as man and wife.
Despite her dramatic weight loss, the star claims that she is taking care of herself and trying to remain a good example for her three girls, Luca, 15; Lola, 9; Fiona, 5.
It’s been estimated that Garth’s 5’5″ frame has likely shrunken to right around 100 pounds, which is around 30 pounds lighter than her pre-split figure.
On a recent episode of her TV series Jennie Garth: A Little Bit Country, the star opened up about how difficult the separation has been.
“When you get married you hope it’s forever and you hope you’re gonna grow old together. It threw me for a loop,” she said. “Any woman or human would feel rejected…With any sort of rejection you are angry that you weren’t enough for that person. I don’t know if I’m angry at myself for not being enough, or if I’m angry at him for not considering me to be enough.” (more…)

Tune in to Rachael Ray today, April 11 to see Eva Longoria cooking up some of her favorite recipes. The Desperate Housewives star will demonstrate how to make delicious enchiladas rojas from her new cookbook, Eva’s Kitchen. The book is inspired by Longoria’s childhood on a ranch, so she’s invited her mom to be a guest on the show as well. Eva recently joked that she’s on the “divorce diet,” and will be dishing about her dating life with Rachael.
Also on Monday’s episode, Dr. Ian will show viewers how they can lose weight while still eating delicious foods with tips from his new book Eat. After all, losing weight works best when you find a way to eat fewer calories without feeling deprived.
Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria recently invented the “Divorce Diet,” and many are buzzing that it’s the next big weight loss craze. “I don’t know why, everybody loses weight after a divorce!” said Longoria. Who doesn’t want to slim down or shape up to make their ex jealous after a divorce or breakup?
Longoria appeared on Good Morning America to discuss her new cookbook, Eva’s Kitchen. She explained that she’s on a “divorce diet” after her marriage to NBA player Tony Parker ended. When asked about her divorce, she replied, “great, I’ve been so busy–I mean divorce is not great,” she said with a laugh. “I’ve been fine. Getting through it, getting past it. It’s nice to be surrounded by your family and your friends and also to be blessed with a great career and other projects like my book.”

On Desperate Housewives, Eva Longoria‘s character Gaby Solis would rather dine out at a five-star restaurant than get her hands dirty in her own kitchen. However when she isn’t starring on the small screen, food is a family affair, dating back to her childhood on a Texas ranch.
Today Longoria runs two restaurants and has written her first cookbook, Eva’s Kitchen, which is due to hit stores in early April. Among some of her favorite recipes, Longoria’s book offers personal anecdotes and family photos that chronicle her journey with food and cooking. In advance of the book’s launch, she shared some of her favorite recipes with Prevention.com, including her famous guacamole.
“I have a few tricks that give my guacamole great flavorand texture,” Longoria told Prevention. “First and most important, I use lemon juice instead of lime. Lemon has a little sweetness that brings out all the other flavors. Also key is to never skimp on the lemon or the kosher salt. Serrano peppers give it a great kick, much better than jalapeños. And finally, never stir as you add each ingredient to the bowl or the guacamole will become too watery.
“This is especially beautiful in a dish that shows off the guacamole’s green, white, and red colors, such as a molcajete–a Mexican mortar and pestle. Serve with tortilla chips as an appetizer or on top of steak,” Longoria said.
Some actors take extreme measures when preparing for future roles. And that includes gaining or losing significant amounts of weight. Sometimes it’s cosmetic, while other times the actor takes it to dangerous levels. Here are some of the more notable examples:
Manipulating weight on a dramatic level famously began with Robert DeNiro in his role as Jake LaMotta in the 1980 film Raging Bull. During the fight scenes, DeNiro was in tip-top shape; cut out of granite. But for his scenes as the washed up pugilist, DeNiro packed on a whopping 60 pounds. According to the Internet Movie Database, the weight gain was a record for the time. It was later topped by Vincent D’Onofrio who gained 70 pounds for his role as private Pyle in Stanley Kubrick’s haunting Vietnam war picture, Full Metal Jacket.
According to director Martin Scorsese, the film’s production was closed down for about four months, allowing DeNiro to binge on carb-loaded Italian food. It made for an amazing transformation for the film’s final scenes.
Once the acting legend Robert DeNiro set the bar so high for fully committing to a movie role, Oscar hopefuls lined up to show what they were made of.
Renee Zellweger is probably the most famous actress to make a point of dramatically transforming her body. She did it twice for two installments of the Bridget Jones films. Zellweger is normally a slim size six, but for the films she transformed into a size 14. (more…)
