Atkins revealed a new diet plan at the start of the year, a fresh take on their famous low- or no-carb way of life. The Atkins 40 is a new, revised program that focuses on sustainability and results. People are encouraged to eat from all of the major food groups, starting at 40 net grams of carbs instead of the previous 20. The program is best designed for people who have less than 40 pounds to lose.

Jenny Craig Wins the 2015 Diet Taste Test!

jenny-craig-logo

Which meal delivery diet really stands out in taste? For the fifth year in a row, Next Advisor held its Diet Taste Test, which focuses on providing a better look at  the most popular dieting services in the country. The goal is to learn how the food actually tastes to real people. This year, Jenny Craig was the big winner, beating  bistroMD, who won 2014′s Taste Test.

The test is performed when a week’s worth of standard meals from each dieting group is consumed anonymously. A group of 12 men and women are asked to try the food, rating it on a scale of 1 – 10 for taste, as well as appearance. The tasters are unaware of which brand they are eating at the time, considering all labels are taken off before the tests are performed. The anonymous tasters tried food from bistroMD, Jenny Craig, The 17 Day Diet, Nutrisystem, and Diet-to-Go. The other factors taken into consideration for the test are price, customization, availability of fitness tools, strength, and availability of support provided to the consumer.

See How the Stars are Dieting in 2015

gwyneth-paltrow

Diet is the word of the season, no matter what you claim as your profession. Celebrities aren’t immune, and their diet proclivities make front-page news. Here’s how some of the biggest names have lost some of their winter pounds, whether living in the real world or prepping for the red carpet season ahead.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Though Paltrow does not have a need to lose weight — she has been deemed “Queen of the Cleanse” — she recently posted about her “annual deep cleanse.” Her annual diet consists of three meals and one snack and focuses on ridding your body of toxins in your system. No dairy, sweeteners, alcohol, caffeine, wheat, or any meat, including seafood.

Soleil Moon-Frye

We spoke with Frye recently about her incredible 23 pound weight loss, something she is very proud of. Frye lost the weight using Nutrisystem‘s My Way and Fast 5, programs that helped her keep on track after a third baby. The former Punky Brewster star looks great, and is happy to be able to eat whatever she likes!

Timothy Spall

Spall, the well-known Harry Potter actor who plays Wormtail, emerged at the Film Critics Circle Award quite a bit lighter. Spall credits his weight loss to the motivation of his wife, a personal trainer, and a huge change in his diet. Spall’s son has also recently celebrated a huge weight loss of his own.

Kirstie Alley Loses 50 Pounds with Jenny Craig, Says “This Time It’s Different”

kirstie alley 50 pounds

Kirstie Alley has always been very vocal about her weight losses and gains, something she has spoken about as a Jenny Craig spokesperson, a Dancing With the Stars star, and a Fat Actress. Alley spoke to Today’s Matt Lauer yesterday about her most recent weight loss. She has reached her goal of not only 30 pounds, but 50!

Alley told Lauer that she once again lost the weight through Jenny Craig, for which she returned as a paid spokesperson in early 2014. She returned to Jenny Craig with a controversial commercial in which she called the brand to set-up an appointment and referenced being “Circus Fat.” She told DietsInReview.com at the time that’s how she saw herself and not a representation of how the brand saw its customers.

Her return to Jenny Craig last year was also part of the brand’s parent company buying Kirstie’s Organic Liaison brand. Her rather large product line has been reduced to a single product, Rescue Me (an organic “energy elixir”) that is now available for purchase only through the JC website.

In the Today interview, Alley went on to tell Lauer that she has used Jenny Craig in the past, but this time, she actually “really listened” to her private consultant. “We planned things out this time, that makes a big difference.”

On her award-winning blog, No Thanks to Cake, Kelly Guy shares tasty, easy-to-make recipes, offers advice on how to eat healthy while traveling and professes her love for the Gilmore Girls. After a 66-pound weight loss, Kelly has firsthand experience with the struggle to find a healthy balance with food. I’m her newest fan.

What habits specifically led you to gain weight? Emotional eating habits. I can remember coming home after school and eating cheese and crackers, chips, cookies, and anything else that was available. I consumed way too much fast food , ate larger than necessary portions and had no physical activity.

What caused you to realize you needed to change? I was overwhelmed by the idea of losing almost 100 lbs. A good friend had just scheduled gastric-bypass surgery. It terrified me that weight loss surgery was also becoming an option for me. A few days later I took pictures with a friend who was 6 months pregnant and I looked bigger than she did.

How did you lose the weight? I followed the Jenny Craig program for about 12 months, finding great success with the simplicity of the program. I told friends that I “took it like a prescription.” My meals were planned and I didn’t have a ton of decisions to make on a daily basis. The weight started rolling off.
