Oh, Kim Kardashian. That curvy, raven-haired reality TV star we can’t seem to get enough of. Especially the curves. Did we mention those?
While Kim may have been known for her shapely figure before giving birth to baby North last year, her post-baby body has drawn even more attention. After gaining 50 pounds during her pregnancy, she was able to shed the weight in merely six months and strutted her stuff in an itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny white bikini on the cover of US Weekly to celebrate.
She then reportedly lost another 20 pounds in advance of her Paris nuptials to Kanye West. With rumors flying of whether or not baby #2 will soon be on the way (and whether or not Kanye’s on board), we’re wondering if her weight loss successes affect her decision to get another bun in the oven as quickly as possible.
While she’s squashed recent binge eating rumors, we don’t exactly know what this famous yo-yo dieter is up to now. But if history repeats itself, we do know some of the ways she’s managed to not only keep, but improve her enviable figure in the past. (more…)
You know what’s cute? Baby bellies. Aren’t pregnant women adorable?
You know what’s not so cute? Baby bellies when you’re not pregnant. I’m not making a blanket statement about the size of other women’s bodies and what I think they should or shouldn’t look like. I’m talking solely about my own.
It’s annoying. Pants don’t fit well, and forget about wearing maxi dresses without getting “the look” from others. Is she, isn’t she? When a family member put her hand on my belly and asked if I had “news,” I lost it.
What if I did a juice fast? (Or cleanse, as some might call it.) I just wanted to look not so pregnant. And I was curious. Would I have renewed energy as some claimed? Would I cure my pesky battle with constipation (thank you, hormones). Would I feel rejuvenated? (more…)

Car doors closing quietly, subdued greetings, sneaker-laced feet shuffling as stretches begin, hands slapping at mosquitoes eager for an early-morning snack. At 5 a.m. on a weekday morning, these are the sounds of the Fitness Junkies, all mothers (or grandmothers) who are committed to pushing their bodies to the brink of collapse all in the name of getting a good workout.
I went once, puked twice, and haven’t returned. That was before my second child, and despite my utter and complete failure during my first go-round, I’m considering giving it another try. Why?
Well, I have a confession to make. Sometimes, I want to run away from my children. No, not “Thelma and Louise” style running away, but good, old-fashioned, feet-pounding-pavement running away. I just want to escape, feel blood coursing through my veins, and just be alone. Completely and sweetly alone.
Of course, I would eventually run back (if I didn’t collapse somewhere along the way). I love my darling babies, but as a new work-at-home mom, I need “me” time. Not only that, but I need more energy (and strength, mental clarity, etc.). I went from sitting at a computer for 50+ hours a week, to chasing around a one-year-old and three-year-old overnight. As much as I love my new gig, I’m not physically prepared! (more…)
