The Biggest Loser season 7 live finale, which aired Tuesday, May 12, delivered its customary brand of awe-inspiring transformations, this time with 22 contestants who had shed a record breaking amount of weight, 2,744 pounds for the season. One thing’s for sure, this season delivered truth to the fashion statement that you can look fabulous at any size!
For one of the most spectacular finishes in Biggest Loser history, this season’s contestants were impeccably styled in fabulous designer clothes, the hottest colors of the season and figure flattering silhouettes.
Two underdogs pulled through to take the Biggest Loser title, Helen Phillips, and the at-home prize winner, Jerry Hayes. It was one of the most exciting finales yet, with a lot to pack into the three-hour live event.
Going in to the Biggest Loser 7 finale, Tara Costa was as close as you get to a sure thing. She was an immediate competitor on the Biggest Loser ranch, winning a record-breaking 12 challenges and losing 135 pounds while on campus, more than any other woman in the show’s history. However, last night, Helen Phillips swept the win out from underneath her.
No one was sure until the last minute who America would vote to compete as a finalist in the Biggest Loser 7 finale. Between Mike Morelli and his dad Ron Morelli, America chose to send the show’s youngest player ever to compete against winner Helen Phillips and Tara Costa. Mike’s been an inspiration to young and old, and with a 207 pound total weight loss, there’s no doubt he’ll continue to be that.
Jerry Hayes, the oldest Biggest Loser contestant in the show’s history, has won the At-Home Biggest Loser Prize. This 64-year-old grandfather of five was certainly not the top choice to beat his fellow contestants for the $100,000 prize, but after losing 47.97% of his body weight (down 177 pounds to his current weight of 192), he was the clear winner from the moment he stepped on the scale.
