Only Two Contestants Get to Work with Trainers in the Biggest Loser Season 11 Week 10 Recap

I’m sure everyone out there is still reeling from Arthur’s elimination last week. I know I am. But I’m glad to report he is doing great! I actually met up with him for dinner last night as he is in town to do the Today Show and he has a great positive attitude about it all.

Arthur Wornum Has Got No Time for Tears after his Biggest Loser Elimination

It’s been a very long time since we’ve seen such a heart wrenching episode of Biggest Loser. We haven’t missed a show since season five began and this will undoubtedly go down as one of the most unforgettable episodes. There were few dry eyes as we watched Arthur Wornum walk in to the gym wearing a red shirt, a symbol that he’d been traded to the other team where he had no alliances; and should he end-up in the elimination room everyone knew he’d be sent home.

“I feel like I’m being dressed for my funeral” said a tearful Arthur as he walked on the scale one last time. Jillian Michaels was crying, “his girls” were crying on the black team, and most of us at home were crying big ‘ole alligator tears. And after last night’s elimination, Bob Harper sent Arthur a text message saying “I’m still in tears.”

However, you can’t cry for Arthur for too long. He’s resilient, and exudes a positivity and optimism that we wish was fully contagious like a virus. You’ll hear his high spirits in our post-elimination interview below. He tells us he has no animosity toward the red team, and knows he was victim to the “us v. them” mentality. He also shares how trainers Bob and Jillian have kept in touch since he left the ranch.

You can credit Bob and Jillian with a lot of Arthur’s success, but in the end it all goes to him. He lost 117 pounds, off of a starting weight of 507 pounds, while at the ranch. Working out six to eight hours a day at home, he’s now within 100 pounds of his goal.

“This isn’t to win the at-home prize, that’s the icing on the cake, this is to win my life back,” says Arthur about his weight loss. “For the first time in a long time, it’s within reach.” So close in fact that he’s confident that the at-home prize of $100,000 could very well be his. Don’t let a starting weight of 507 fool you, last year’s “heaviest contestant ever,” Michael Ventrella, became season 9’s Biggest Loser champ.

Arthur’s not taking the easy road. Part of that eight-hour-a-day workout, which he calls “my daily job,” is walking the five miles to the gym, and five miles home. In an interview with his loudest cheerleader, father and teammate, Jesse Wornum, he told us that Arthur has a tremendous support network at home, including his wife, mother, aunts, uncles and friends.

We have no doubt we’re going to see Arthur take this one all the way. And maybe even a little bit further!

Everyone Goes Home in Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 9 Recap

The competition between the two teams is now even: 7 on 7. But guess what? Time to go home! Everyone will be going home for two weeks. They all seem really happy and excited to go home, but temptations abound. If I were in their position, I would not want to go home until my journey was close to being done. I feel like this would disrupt my groove  How will it affect the contestants?

Biggest Loser’s Deni and Jesse Prove Parental Love Knows No Bounds

We have only one word to summarize Deni Hill and Jesse Wornum, the week eight eliminated contestants from Biggest Loser. Classy. Not only did they, along with Marci Crozier, gain weight, a combined 12 pounds, they owned up to it. And they didn’t do it to advance their positions in the game, they did it to save “the kids,” their own and those they adopted on the ranch.

In week eight, there was a double elimination. One contestant would immediately be sent home for losing the least amount of weight, or in Deni’s case, gaining the most. In our interview, Deni and Jesse confirm that they “did talk about it” with Marci and agreed they’d throw the weigh in. Deni says “we knew who was going home,” and Jesse says “the strategy played out.”

Listen now to hear about their strategy that protected everyone else in the house, and hear them each explain their at-home regimens.

Double Elimination in Biggest Loser Season 11 Week 8 Recap

The episode opens in the elimination room. The red team is still not settled from Jay‘s departure when the black team is called in for an announcement.  There will be two people eliminated this week. The team that loses the weigh in has to send someone home, as well as the lowest overall individual goes home under the dreaded red line.  Can the red team afford to lose their fourth and fifth person in a row?

The red team gets a special little treat to help combat their losing streak, one that makes me quite jealous. They get to go train at Bas Rutten’s MMA facility. I have trained MMA before and actually trained at TapouT in Las Vegas for three weeks before the finale. This style of training is what really helped me rip off the pounds when I was off the ranch. I wish we had more of it when I was on the ranch. As one can see, these are extremely brutal, high intensity workouts that helps you shed weight quick. Then, after this ridiculous workout, Bas himself comes out to greet them and to specifically talk to Rulon, who he helped train for his fight in 2004, and was glad to see that he is trying to right the ship. Biggest Loser Cast and Crew Safe in Wake of New Zealand Earthquake

A devastating 6.3 magnitude earthquake rocked Christchurch, New Zealand this week, and since then two aftershocks have continued to leave the populous city scrambling for safety. According to ABC News, at least 65 people have died and dozens have been injured. Rescue efforts are under way.

While this isn’t news DietsInReview.com would ordinarily report, many Biggest Loser fans know that members of the show’s cast and crew have been in New Zealand for the past week filming for season 11, as Bob, Jillian and Ali have been tweeting about their adventures.

We reached out to our press contact for Biggest Loser and have received confirmation that everyone is safe. It appears they are a “good distance away from Christchurch” and were not affected.

While they are not affected physically, it is evident that the trio is using their position to help raise awareness for the people in New Zealand who have been.

Bob Harper posted on his Facebook page: “We are okay from the earthquake in NZ and we are praying for the families in Christ Church. Thank you for your prayers.” (more…)

Emotional Breakthroughs and a Closed Gym on Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 7 Recap

Two members of the red team have gone home two weeks in a row.  At this point, they must be feeling the pressure mounting. Losing one weigh in, let alone two in a row, can definitely put a gloom on your situation. Can the red team stop their losing streak? Also, will Arthur be able to shake that target off his back, even as he tries to rationalize his decision to his father?

This week’s pop challenge really makes the teams work in unison. They are tied together by a single rope that is tied in knots. The first team to do it gets a key. The only key. To the gym for the entire week. This puts the other team at a severe disadvantage. The red team, with Cowboy Justin, win this challenge quite easily. Bob and Jillian are none too happy with this, but they know it’s just something they have to deal with. Meanwhile, on the red team, it seems like Rulon‘s head is just not in it, almost as though he is holding something back. (more…)

Q Finds His Weight Loss Motivation after Biggest Loser Elimination

With the elimination of Jaquin “Q” Allen from Biggest Loser this week, the red team is officially out of this game. During week five he was confronted by teammates for not fulling committing to being there, and his wife Larialmy‘s request to send her home bought him one more week. For whatever reason, Q still didn’t meet his teammates’ expectations and with the lift of those silver tray lids, he went back to South Carolina.

Watch our exclusive one-on-one interview with Q, sponsored by MultiGrainCheerios, in which we see this funny’s guy personality, hear a lot about the Biggest Loser Resort experience, and how his on-show training prepared him to workout at home.

After spending one week apart, the longest the couple had ever been separated, Q says his wife was waiting with open arms and “didn’t shun me.”

We spoke with Q following his elimination and he talks about how the couple has grown as a result of their shared Biggest Loser experience. He says things have only gotten better, and they’ve learned to stop being each others enabler. Plus, Q talks about what life was like for the Unknowns at the new Malibu location for Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge, a place he calls “Disney World for fat people.” Listen now:

The House Divides Red vs. Black in Biggest Loser Season 11 Episode 6 Recap

This week begins in the elimination room. The ranchers are brought in to join the unknowns in order for Ali to share some news with them: The two factions will officially be in direct competition as they are going red versus black! But that is not all. There is also a temptation to take care of right away. (more…)

Running and Family Support Larialmy Allen’s Weight Loss after Biggest Loser Elimination

Made possible by MultiGrain Cheerios.

Five weeks in to a season of Biggest Loser and we usually think we know all we can about the contestants. Not true for Larialmy Allen (pronounced Lair-Uh-Me). She was fortunate to have four weeks of immunity as a member of the “Unknowns” team, training at the Biggest Loser Resort in Malibu with new trainers Brett Hoebel and Cara Castronuova. She was eliminated at the end of week five, the first week all contestants were reunited back at the ranch. (more…)

Don Evans Explains Weight Gain after Biggest Loser Elimination

Made possible by MultiGrain Cheerios.

We haven’t investigated this admittedly, but we’re pretty sure no one has ever gained 15 pounds in two weeks on Biggest Loser. Probably not the record Don Evans was hoping to set as a contestant in season 11, but one he at least half-willingly helped create. In week four he and now-eliminated twin brother Dan Evans both gained nine pounds. Then, in week five, admitting to being home sick, Don owned up to throwing the weigh-in so he’d fall below the yellow line and go home. (more…)
