Liquid-Only Diet Prepares Supermodel Adriana Lima for Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

How do supermodels prepare for a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, especially if they’ve just had a baby eight weeks ago? For Adriana Lima, the answer is to turn to a completely liquid diet for a solid week and a half and work out twice a day.

The mother of Valentina, 3, and Sienna, born in September, earned $7 million in 2011, giving her ranking on Forbes’ annual Celebrity 100 list. Her biggest earnings come from being a Victoria’s Secret Angel, but she appears in a diverse listing of modeling ads, television commercials, and acting spots. She likens her career’s required runway preparations to athletes training for a marathon.

Lima, 31, shared her training regimen with The Telegraph UK before last year’s show. She said she works out daily with a personal trainer, then twice a day for the three weeks leading up to the show. Lima does a variety of exercises like boxing, lifting weights, and jump rope she described as “really intense.”

After the birth of her first child, Lima said “it was easy” to lose her baby weight by hitting the gym once or twice daily for one to two hours, along with a portion-controlled diet of four ounce meals.

Do Not Try Adriana Lima’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Diet at Home

Last night Victoria’s Secret taped its highly anticipated annual fashion show, presenting the latest, and most over-the-top, lingerie styles. The brand has an elite team of models, some of the most well-paid, not to mention beautiful, in the industry. This year’s star-studded event will air November 29, and make us immediately regret second helpings of Thanksgiving mashed potatoes.

For the women who model for Victoria’s Secret their bodies are their tools of the trade. They catch a lot of criticism, as much as they do praise, for their long, lean, well-toned bodies. It’s not a look, or a lifestyle, that’s realistic for most women, and with that being said, it shouldn’t be imitated either.

Adriana Lima, one of the Angels, shared how she prepares for one of the biggest fashion shows of the year. Much like bras sold at Victoria’s Secret, her regimen is not one-size-fits-all.

Victoria’s Secret Model Reveals Her Diet

Victoria's Secret ModelSupermodel Adriana Lima starts preparing for the annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show six weeks in advance. She works out for two hours a day, six days a week. Lima says she prefers boxing, jumping rope and isometric exercises that don’t require equipment. “I don’t lift weights, I don’t like machines. Everything I do is with my body weight,” she said. Lima keeps a positive attitude about working out. “Every day’s a challenge, every day you’re stepping out and learning something new. So it’s wonderful, I like it a lot. It’s very intense, but I like it.” She feels that working out helps her body cleanse itself of toxins.

Lima also shifts her diet, cutting back on carbs and upping the protein for three weeks before the runway show. “I’m doing a combination of different protein shakes — it’s called Metagenics,” said the model. “Also, I only can eat green vegetables, everything grilled or steamed, or four ounces of any type of protein. And usually that’s what I have for lunch and dinner, and every three hours in between I have a protein shake or cereal bar.”
