Sign-up for DietsInReview’s Newsletter to be eligible (existing subscribers included). The lucky winner will be selected on November 30. Good luck!

Just in time for Thanksgiving, Quorn foods, which creates a line of meatless products, has come out with a new Turk’y Burger that has 50 percent less fat than a traditional turkey burger.

Rather than using soy, wheat gluten or textured vegetable protein like many vegetarian products, Quorn relies on a mycoprotein-based ingredient that contains less fat, fewer calories and more fiber than meat. In addition, it contains nine essential amino acids making it a powerful source of protein for vegetarians or for those who are trying to reduce their intake of meat.

yoplait fiber one yogurtThis week, we love Yoplait’s new Fiber One yogurts. From Greek to non-fat and from fruit-on-the-bottom to probiotic, there is no shortage of yogurts lining grocery store dairy cases. And while yogurt is a DietsInReview.com favorite healthy food, we are particularly excited about this new line from the yogurt gurus at Yoplait.

Each small tub contains just 50 calories, zero fat, five grams of filling fiber (that’s 20 percent of your recommended daily amount), ten percent of your calcium needs, 15 percent of your Vitamin D needs and live active yogurt cultures. Plus, this new line of Fiber One yogurts is endorsed by best-selling author and food expert, Lisa Lillien, a.k.a. Hungry Girl.

Win a Grocery List Makeover for Healthier Shopping

Shopping cart
As a health counselor I can’t help but look into the shopping carts of fellow shoppers to see what types of products and produce they load into their carts. In some cases I have had to fight the urge to question some shoppers as to why they just selected a product full of sugar, fat and artificial ingredients.

Below are some quick tips to help move your regular shopping list to a nutritious filled list:

Typical food items on shopping list:

  • White Bread
  • White Rice
  • Salmon
  • Chicken
  • Vegetable Oil

Nutritious shopping list:

  • Whole Grain Bread (not just whole wheat)
  • Brown Rice
  • Wild Salmon (not farmed)
  • Free-Range, Antibiotic-Free Chicken
  • Olive Oil or Coconut Oil
