This week each team’s fate relies on the roll of the die! Only one person’s weight will count for the entire team’s weight-loss. FINALLY, this will even the playing field a bit and each team will know what it’s like to rely on just one person. Although this is good news, all I can think about is the ugly mug shot on the white dice; did I really look like that? Wow, it just takes a few weeks to see how things have changed.
Can you say Wipe out? Challenge number six for the Biggest Loser family really tested our balance – or should I say lack there of? The mission- run across a 25’ long 6” wide balance beam to plates that display different caloric values and return it to the other side where photos of different food items stand (cheeseburger, bagel with cream cheese, Greek yogurt with berries, ravioli with meatballs, and grilled chicken with quinoa). Oh, all while two GIANT pendulums swing back and forth trying to knock you on your keister! This has to be the FUNNIEST challenge so far.
Episode five opens with the question, “Could this be the end of the White Team?”. The score is Blue Team: 5, Red Team: 4, White Team: 1. If I go home this week, Jillian does, too. The pressure is on!
I was SO nervous going into this first workout. There is no one else for Jillian Michaels to focus on; it’s one on one now. Can I keep up with Jillian’s expectations? Jillian and I took on a new approach this week – she is putting it in my hands. I will decide when and where she needed to push; it is up to me.
The Challenge: each team had a “Wishing Fountain” and on the other side of the pond were five-pound coins. Each person on each team needed to get ten coins in their respective fountain. The winning team would receive 10 one-year memberships to Planet Fitness AND the choice of a two pound advantage on the scale or the opportunity to call home! With my background in swimming and water polo, this challenge was mine to win! The challenge starts and I burst off the gate. My swimming days came back to me, but it was a lot harder. These coins are HEAVY but I knew I had to win. AND I DID! I chose the advantage; I NEED to stay on the Ranch. (more…)
WHAT?! The trainers are leaving us? Alison Sweeney MUST be joking. The White team is down to its last two players; we NEED Jillian Michaels. Pam and I knew we had to put our game faces on and work harder than ever. She told us to run five miles a day- DONE, Ladder to Hell- DONE, stairs- DONE… Pam and I are BACK!
I think my favorite part of this episode was seeing Bingo’s, Sunny’s and Lindsay’s stories. I am so proud of Bingo’s parents as they are truly accepting of the new healthy lifestyle; check out all the fruit in that fridge! And Lindsay! Her mom and sister are really helping her kick it up to the next level-Fight to win girl! (more…)
It’s week three and there are only two of us left; Pam and I have no choice but to pull out ALL the stops! Then, Ali throws another twist – a pop challenge! This challenge tests our knowledge on childhood obesity and “there is a consequence for everything.” The losing team will have to spend 4.5 HOURS a day LOCKED in this room full of video games, TVs, lounge chairs and all the snacks I have spent the last two weeks avoiding all to emulate the life of the average child.
The challenge came down to the final question: Of the parents of obese children, what percentage think their child is normal weight or underweight? Answer: 75%!! I don’t know if I should be upset that we got this question wrong or upset that this statistic is SO high. This causes a tiebreaker – WE PULL AHEAD – WHEW!
I am so glad America is seeing the EPIDEMIC of childhood obesity and its effects on the next generation. I was just like Lindsay and Sunny growing up; I struggled with being the “chubby” kid. I believe that the lack of knowledge and advancements of sedentary technology are the viruses of this disease. It is our duty as the cast of Biggest Loser to make America aware. But for now, Pam and I just need to survive this week! (more…)
I was sitting in the auditorium and my heart was pounding. I had no idea whether or not I would be chosen, but when Alison Sweeney called my name I was overjoyed. I instantly felt a bond with everyone else on the stage with me; we were all determined to start this journey.
All along I wanted Jillian Michaels as a trainer when I heard she would be back. She really seems to break down contestant walls and I was hoping she could do that for me. However, when we went to our first workout, I was not prepared at all! I thought we were going to ease into it at first, but without warning we were thrown into the most intense workout of our lives. I really thought this was supposed to be about our team, and it made me angry every time another team member quit or got kicked out of the gym that first day.
I think it is easy to see that I was having a hard time with Jillian in these first two episodes. I felt like she wasn’t being uplifting to my team or me. When I was finally able to confront her about it, it really changed our relationship. For the first time I was standing up for what I believed in and she respected that. (more…)
