The young daughters of President-Elect Barack Obama will be eating lunches that are healthy and organic at their new school Sidwell-Friends. The lunch menu should be the envy of school cafeterias nationwide. Not only is the food nutritious, it’s stuff kids will actually eat and enjoy. The Obamas are known for eating a lean diet, so it’s possible the quality of food their daughters would be served during the day played a part in their decision.
Sasha Obama, the younger daughter, attends the lower school, where menu items this week included:
Biggest Loser: Couples’ first episode just premiered last night, and one contestant is already in the spotlight. Shanon Thomas, a 29-year old massage therapist from Centerline, MI, was charged with domestic violence in Macomb County on December 16, 2008. She was arrested and arraigned, after being accused of a confrontation with her tenant, Michael Nolden, a man renting a basement room. He says she yelled at him to turn down the sound on his TV (maybe she was trying to watch the live Biggest Loser: Families finale!), broke Christmas light bulbs and then tossed flour at him.
Thomas argues that Nolden through a pan at her and that he suggested she “get a pizza.” A judged entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf. No trial date has been set, and she’s looking at a possibility of up to 93 days in jail.
It’s one big win after another for the most recent winner of The Biggest Loser. Michelle Aguilar announced that she and boyfriend Micah Whitehead became engaged just days following the finale. She says she was “shocked” by the proposal that came just four months after their romance began. Since losing 110 pounds during the shows sixth season, she’s excited about shopping for a dress in a size 4 or 6.
“Before, you have that fear: ‘Hey, can you pull me a size 20?’ What girl wants to say that?” Michelle told US Weekly. The bride-to-be says she “absolutely” plans to use her recent $250,000 winnings as part of the spring or fall 2009 wedding.
If you didn’t get a chance to watch the premiere of Oprah’s 2009 season, as well as her Best Life Week, you missed 30 minutes of the most candid we’ve probably ever seen the daytime diva. For a half-hour she put it all out there, talked about how her weight began to climb in February 2007 all the way through her reveal last month that her weight was topping 240 pounds… again. She expressed anger with herself for letting the weight climb back again, saying “I can’t believe I’m still talking about weight!”
