50 Cent Sheds 54 Pounds

50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, the well known rapper and actor from “Get Rich or Die Tryin” released new images of himself on his twitter account that show him extremely slimmed down and almost unrecognizable. His previous weight was 214 pounds and he now clocks in at 160 pounds, netting a 54 pound loss for the rapper.

No need for concerns, he was slimming down for a role in a new movie titled “Things Fall Apart”, which features him as a football star diagnosed with cancer. In order to achieve the extreme weight loss he apparently spent 3 hour sessions on his treadmill daily and changed his diet to be liquid-only for nine weeks.

With filming complete the star is going back on tour and couldn’t be happier to eat and bulk up as he stated “I was starving.” For details on his tour schedule you can find out more here.

Sony’s One-Piece Music Player Review

If you’re like most people, music is a huge part of working out. I could certainly not last as long as I do on the treadmill or elliptical if I didn’t have tunes pumping me up.

The music players I typically use have two parts: earphones and the actual device. Companies are now working to improve the way we listen to music while working out, and one recently released device is the Sony W series Walkman MP3 player.

Quantam Scale Will Never Show Your Weight

There is a scale out there for everyone. At DietsInReview.com, we thought we had seen it all, with scales that upload your weight online, to even a chair that doubles as a scale. Turns out we haven’t seen it all. The Quantam Scale, which was featured on The Tyra Banks Show and The Bonnie Hunt Show, does not show you your weight. Yes, you read that correctly; it will never show you your actual weight.

When stepping on the scale, it will simply show you how much you have lost or gained, but not those three dreaded numbers.

Kids Are Eating Fruit in Creative Ways

If you are a parent struggling to get fruit in your kids’ diets you have probably tried the technique of sneaking fruits and vegetables in their food, or even giving the vegetables funny names which I spoke about “in the news” for our Natural Health newsletter.

According to a study done by Dutch researchers, one effective way to get kids to eat their produce is to make the food look appealing and fun. In children ages 4 to 7 years old, kids ate close to twice as much when the fruit was presented in a fun and likable way.

Walmart to Donate 1.1 Billion Pounds of Food

Walmart recently announced a plan to ramp up their donations over the next five years to food banks across the country, which will total $2 billion dollars. This more than doubles their current donation amount, which comes at a good time when the number of Americans needing assistance is on the rise.

The plan as it has been outlined will consist of splitting up the funds that are utilized to purchase refrigerated trucks used to help keep meat and produce last longer as they are transported from Walmart stores to the various charities.

Body Trace Wireless Scale Makes Tracking Weight Easy

Like most people, I had a standard scale that I kept in my bathroom and at random times throughout the week would hop on to monitor my weight. I never tracked my weight over time, but simply knew when I got on the scale if I liked the number or not. That was then; this is now. And, scales have become increasingly advanced to help people track their progress toward their weight loss goals.

The Body Trace eScale is one of these advanced scales as it wirelessly uploads your weight to your account on the Body Trace website. Below I have outlined the main features of the site and their functions, along with my comments on each:

Myth: Fresh vegetables and fruits are more nutritious than frozen ones.

Fact: The truth of the matter is that not everyone has access to a farmers’ market where produce can be purchased very soon after it has been pulled from the ground. With that said, the produce you are buying in your grocery story is very likely older than you think.

E. Coli Outbreak Forces Lettuce Recall

According to the Associated Press “the Food and Drug Administration said Thursday that 12 people had been hospitalized and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it was looking at 10 other cases probably linked to the outbreak. Freshway Foods of Sidney, Ohio, said it was recalling romaine lettuce sold under the Freshway and Imperial Sysco brands.”

The FDA is currently investigating the E. Coli outbreak, which seems to be focused on lettuce grown in Arizona as a possible source. According to some sources, the lettuce causing the outbreak was not packaged in bags to be sold directly to consumers, but instead is lettuce used at supermarket and restaurant salad bars.

Busting Common Food Myths

With so much information at our fingertips from the news on TV and online, it can be overwhelming to try to distinguish fact from fiction. For example, how many times have you heard or been told that sugars are bad for you? Well, the truth is that not all sugars are bad. But, depending on your source you may have heard a different opinion. Let’s get started and bust six common food myths:

Myth: Eggs cause your cholesterol to rise.

Fact: Our bodies generate and create their own cholesterol, so rarely do we need any help with getting more or less through food and diet. Saturated fat and trans fat are the bad fats that impact our body’s cholesterol levels, leading them to rise above regulated levels. Eggs are rich in vitamins and minerals that are good for you and have a relatively small amount of saturated fat that, when eaten in moderation, should not cause any increase to cholesterol levels. Go ahead and keep eggs in your meals.
