Do You Ever Become Skinny after Weight Loss?

Guest blogger Tony Posnanski is the author of The Anti-Jared. Tony struggled with weight loss his whole life until he realized he was not going to be fooled anymore. He has lost more than 200 pounds and maintained it for more than a year. Tony works out six days a week, eats better than before, and has a new outlook on things!

What is skinny?

I have heard it all of my life. Heck, I have said it all of my life. What is it to be skinny? I knew what it was like to be overweight. You know, fat, chunky, thick!

I knew what it was like to wake up in cold sweats.
To walk and feel back pain.
To not be able to put on a seat belt.
I knew what it was like to have to get clothes specially made for me. I knew what it was like to think I would die any minute.

But skinny?

I think that many people want to be skinny. Does skinny even exist I wonder?

People who are 300 pounds want to be skinny. People who are 200 pounds want to be skinny. There are even those 150-pound persons who want to be skinny. I can remember a time when I was 14-years old. I just did a crash diet and I weighed 140 pounds after losing 80 pounds. I felt the ribs on my side. I thought to myself… “I wish I was skinny.”

When I was 420 pounds I did not think about skinny. I did not think about putting on those jeans and yelling “Yes! I did it!”
I thought about living.

I lost the weight. It did not take me long. I lost more than 200 pounds in a year. I did not starve myself. I did not take pills. I watched what I ate. Then I weighed in at 210. I looked at myself and told myself that this was enough. This is where I was comfortable. But I wanted to be less than 200 pounds. Why not, that is the benchmark. Being in “onederland”, right? I did it. I went to 198. I was not happy.

People get confused a lot. They set a goal, and then go for more. When would it stop for me, 160 pounds? 140 pounds? No, I was done. I wanted to do more. I worked out, gained muscle. I look good. I feel good. Am I skinny? Not sure. I mean, I weigh 225 pounds. I work out a lot. My BMI is high, but I can bench press 225 pounds eight times.

I am happy. What more could I ask for?
