Kelly Osbourne, daughter or rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, has a few secrets to reveal yet about her 60-plus pound weight loss. The lavender-haired star is gracing the cover of UK’s Cosmopolitan Body due out December 27, looking slim and toned in a revealing bikini. In an interview with the publication Osbourne, 28, revealed the one simple trick behind her trim physique and healthier outlook on life: Self love.
“People think I lost weight and that’s what made me happier. That’s not true: I had to learn to love myself first,” she said. “Losing weight was just one benefit of putting the hard work in and sorting myself out on the inside first through therapy.”
Osbourne’s outward transformation began in 2009 during her stint on Dancing with the Stars when she experienced a 50 pound weight loss. In an interview with Shape Magazine the star said was able to drop down to a size 2 thanks to a high-protein, low-carb diet in addition to a vigorous dance schedule and weight training. “I can’t believe I just did that and my body looks this good,” she told Shape.
To lose the weight Osbourne admits there was no one simple trick and it was all about getting to the gym and eating right. As reported by People Magazine, the fashionista is watchful of her diet and enjoys indulgences like pizza and chocolate cake in moderation. She also commits to doing something active every day.
“When I started exercising I couldn’t even do one sit-up. By the end of the first week I could do three, and that was a big deal,” she said. “Now I work out every day and I just don’t feel good if I miss it. It’s amazing how quickly your fitness builds, but you have to really want it.”
Osbourne’s transformation has been covered by the media every step of the way, including the small weight gain she saw in 2011 that left her one dress size larger. However, Osbourne vowed to get back in the gym and trim back down and it seems she’s kept good on her word.
In addition to flaunting her new bikini-worthy body on the cover of magazines, Osbourne gets plenty of time on the red carpet time as co-host of E!‘s Fashion Police. This small job perk led to one of Osbourne’s fairy tale moments last year when a custom-designed Zac Posen couture gown fit her like a glove. “I put on my dress, and when I looked at myself in the mirror I cried,” she said.
While Osbourne told Cosmopolitan Body that she never wants to be the kind of person who thinks “I’m hot,” we can’t help but think she does. Through all the trials this young star has seen, including a battle with drugs that nearly took her life and harsh criticism from Christina Aguilera, she’s certainly persevered.
