DietsInReview.com Diet Awards 2024

For the first time we’re honoring 10 sites in the DietsInReview.com Diet Awards. Each of these sites share a common thread – a desire to help people live healthy lives. That’s what drives DietsInReview.com everyday, and we know it’s a priority for all of them, too. We selected a winner and a runner-up in each of five categories: Best Diet Blog, Best Healthy Recipe Blog, Best Fitness Blog, Best Diet Community, Best Health Site.

Please join us in congratulating each of these sites and the talented people behind each of them. Without further ado, the 2024 winners are:

Best Diet Blog

Winner: DozenDiets.com
For Joel’s 2024 New Year’s Resolution, he resolved to lose weight this year, and to do so tried a different diet during each month of the year. He was able to capture the entire dieting experience over the course of a year. He’s currently following 8 Minutes in the Morning, and has completed Weight Watchers, South Beach Diet, Hydroxycut and eight others.

Runner-Up: RonisWeigh.com
A few years ago Roni was a new mom, had a full-time job and was trying to lose weight. She blogged her Weight Watchers journey, and developed a loyal following of fellow dieters. She’s completely candid, divulging everything from her two tummy tucks to triumphs in the gym. Roni’s site is a friendly place on the Web where you’ll find a real woman, facing real challenges, sharing her successes (and even hurdles) in a very real way.

Best Healthy Recipe Blog

Winner: GreenLiteBites.com
Roni has always experimented in her kitchen to keep her healthy diet delicious and interesting. The interest in Roni’s personal take on healthy cooking demanded a home of its own, so she moved her recipes and cooking ideas over to GreenLiteBites.com. Roni proves that eating the right foods doesn’t mean sacrificing an exciting and flavorful menu, if anything it’s more fun!

Runner-Up: ChewOnThatBlog.com
Maxine and Hillary are the foodies behind this recipe blog. Their recipes are always accompanied with an anecdote about how they discovered a new food on a trip or that a certain recipe always reminds them of grandma. You’ll find a wide variety of recipe at ChewOnThat Blog, as they work closely with sister-site Recipe4Living, which publishes user-generated recipes.

Best Fitness Blog

Winner: FitnessRocks.org
Monte Ladner, M.D. did what most middle-aged medical doctors do, quit his practice and started publishing podcasts. Ladner is passionate about introducing people to the role lifestyle plays in our health, and he’s passionate about teaching people how to strike this balance. He publishes free podcasts that review current medical research about fitness, wellness and health, that everyone can learn a lot from.

Runner-Up: GroudedFitness.com
Kelly is the positive and friendly personal trainer behind this fitness blog. As a teen she was bulemic, used the support of family and friends to survive that disease, and now she uses that experience to teach others that a healthy, fit lifestyle doesn’t have to be all you think about. She teaches balance, moderation and provides guidance those seeking expert advice about fitness.

Best Diet Community

Winner: SparkPeople.com
Millions of people have turned to this site seeking diet and weight loss advice. They provide their users with tools and articles related to health, fitness and nutrition, and they do so free of charge. SparkPeople transitions people away from yo-yo and fad diets, to a healthy lifestyle, where eating the right foods and staying active is a natural part of life. The community is lively, positive and makes a fun place for people to seek encouragement to meet their goals.

Runner-Up: 3FatChicks.com
Three formerly-overweight sisters started a site to motivate one another to lose weight. Slowly other people seeking that same support found their site and today they are 70,000 members strong. They operate a completely free weight loss support forum, where members share their experiences, encourage one another to keep working toward the goal, as well as share tips and advice.

Best Health Site

Winner: Wellsphere.com
The site underwent a major redesign this year, enabling them to expand their footprint on the diet and health world. They have an active community talking about nearly everything going on with our health, a variety of tools and widgets that provide additional guidance, and a network of leading health bloggers. The site is free to use and offers a wealth of knowledge.

Runner-Up: HealthCastle.com
Behind this uber-healthy site is a team of nutritionists offering up free advice for achieving a healthy life. No subject is safe, they talk about the best foods, the best workouts, managing diseases and losing weight. HealthCastle is a generous source of information that makes managing your weight or your health easier to do.

“Three formerly-overweight sisters.” Did they ever actually keep the weight off? Are there any recent photos?

Paula says:

SparkPeople rocks!

DR says:

Thanks for this.

I hadn’t heard of either fitnessrocks or grounded fitness – thanks for the heads up.

There are so many sites out there that provide less than credible advice. Thanks for finding these 2 gems.

Sarah says:

I read dozen diets my self and I really like it!

BelindaC says:

Really looking forward to checking out the 2009 National Body Challenge that Discovery Health just kicked off. My girlfriend was telling me there’s plenty of tips and insight how to start your new year on the right track! There will also be a week long event beginning Monday, Jan 5th where 6 challengers will compete to replace old habits with healthy alternatives!

Fran says:

My favorite site is by far diettv.com. Infact they were just voted in the top 3 best diet sites on cnet.
