TRX Suspension Training Introduced to Biggest Loser Workout

If you’re looking for discovering what the latest and best is in fitness equipment, all you have to do is to tune into The Biggest Loser every Tuesday night.

During this season, the contestants will be sculpting their bodies to the TRX, a piece of exercise equipment that has Bob Harper praising its benefits.

The TRX is a suspension training apparatus that offers an all-body workout in 25 minutes. It is supposed to build muscle balance, joint stability, mobility, and core strength, and it’s being used in this season’s 24 Hour Fitness gym by all the Biggest Loser couples.

Because the TRX weighs less than 2 lbs, sets up in under a minute, and stores in a small bag, you can use it just about anywhere. All you have to do is anchor it onto a stable door.  The whole system costs $200. Also, watch the class schedule at your gym for TRX Suspension Training classes.

Here’s a video showing the TRX in action.

How is this different from a set of Gymnastics rings that are half the price and just as versatile? I have never used the trx system, are they easy to set up and adjust?

heather says:

The TRX system is very similar to the gymnastics rings but it is my understanding that the system is incredibly easy to set up and it’s portable. Gymnastics rings are usually permanently harnessed into the floor of the workout or weight room. They aren’t going anywhere. Even though the TRX suspension system costs more than the gym rings, you are paying for the ease of transporting them from your home gym to your hotel room to the fence outside of a local park where you just went for a run. Since the entire system is contained in one nylon bag and weighs less than 2 pounds, you also don’t have to worry about lugging around a giant piece of equipment.

Elite Rings are great for upper body and core development. However, they are not designed for most lower body movements as is the TRX. Rings can be used by everyone, however, most of the exercises are advanced. The TRX is for all fitness levels as you control the level of difficulty based on your body position. With the rings having two anchor points also limits some rotational exercises. The TRX comes with a DVD and workout guide that allows you to learn new exercises for a total body workout and again, helps you understand how you can train anywhere (hook it up to a tree, fence, weight rack, door).

Btw, the band in this video is NOT TRX!!! TRX has its distinct black/yellow stripe and it’s NOT an elastic band. Check out their website at fitnessAnywhere
