So Delicious Coconut Ice Cream Lives up to the Name, Surpasses Tastebud Expectations

Dairy-free, soy free, gluten-free, vegan….the list of food sensitivities is growing more rapidly than ever. More and more people are becoming aware of what their bodies feel best on. For an ice cream lover like myself, finding out I was sensitive to dairy seemed like a death sentence. But fear not! This does not mean you cannot still enjoy your favorite frozen treats.

I’ve tried many of the ice cream alternatives out there– and let me be the first to say that soy ice cream doesn’t exactly do it for me. I’d even become willing to settle for frozen smoothie popsicles or blended frozen bananas. My favorite is still these Chocolate Banana Popsicles to make at home on a hot summer day.

But then I heard about and tried So Delicious coconut ice cream and the tables were turned forever! As someone who doesn’t love coconut-flavored things, I was hesitant. Much to my surprise, the vanilla bean flavor ended up at the top of my list. I tossed on some fresh raspberries from my local u-pick berry farm and could really not tell there was coconut milk involved! Regular dairy ice cream eaters tried this flavor and they thought it tasted like Dairy Queen vanilla. Score!

My other top pop pick from So Delicious were the mini fudge bars, for a few reasons.

They’re Mini!

Portion control and ice cream don’t usually go in the same sentence, but when it comes in a controlled, single-serving bar, it’s so much easier to draw the line at one.

Allergy Friendly

This fudge bar is dairy free, soy free, and vegan.

Virtually Guilt Free

Each bar has just 80 calories, 1 gram of sugar, and 8 grams of dietary fiber making this the perfect alternative to avoid temptation as the ice cream truck rolls through your neighborhood.

“So Delicious” brand coconut ice cream has an entire line of clean frozen desserts with flavors like Gluten-Free Cookies n’ Cream or Cookie Dough and No Sugar Added Butter Pecan.

The No Sugar Added line is the newest addition, in response to many devoted fans’ request to reduce the sugar content in the treats. They removed the organic sugar cane and replaced it with sugar alcohols like erythritol, stevia, and chicory root extract. In general, less sugar or more natural sources are always better for you, but navigating the world of sugar substitutes can be tricky.

The one caveat that we found with So Delicious gluten-free flavors like cookie dough or cookies n’ cream is that we could definitely tell something was different about the cookies. The smooth creamy ice cream still can’t be beat, but the little additions left something to be desired.

To learn more about their flavors, ingredients, nutrition facts, allergens and statuses like gluten free, organic, vegan and non-GMO, the So Delicious web site is the best place to do that.

Do your research and see where you feel most comfortable getting your sugar fix from. Everything in moderation is a safe principle to follow. Even too much “guilt-free” coconut ice cream isn’t a good thing! But keeping So Delicious stocked in your freezer all summer long will keep your taste buds and belly satisfied.
