Very good points you bring up. There are no "bike week" initiatives in my community, yet. I live in Gilbert, Arizona. This place is urban sprawl to the max. Fortunately, the roads here have a good number of bike lanes and sidewalks. The sidewalks are under-utilized by pedestrians. I feel safer riding on the sidewalk.
