DailyMile: Social Site Keeps Exercisers Accountable

There’s a new kid on the block – a way to help you log your miles, whether they be running, walking, cycling or swimming. DailyMile, a Twitter-like approach to keeping track of your fitness activities, is sweeping social media. In particular, if you have a Facebook or Twitter account, you’ve undoubtedly seen the green squares proclaiming that the user logged a certain amount of miles and felt great! What is it all about?

DailyMile is a free, easy-to-use training log. It can be set up to synch with your Facebook, Nike+ or Twitter profile, and is an excellent way to keep you accountable and also help you find training buddies in your area. With the ability to map routes and share them with others in your area, you can also create challenges and see upcoming events in your area.

Specific to DailyMile is the ability to select how your fitness efforts made you feel, and the area weather as you exercised. With your log, you can reference and see, for example, if you run faster or further when the weather is overcast.

The best part of DailyMile? It’s free! I can also personally attest to the fact that it’s highly addictive – if you decide to sign up, look for me online!

Melissa

I discovered dailymile about a month or so ago and I love it! It makes me want to exercise every day so that I can post it! Seeing what the other members accomplish motivates me, also. I highly recommend dailymile.
