I have been watching the show since the beginning. My husband has recently become a fan. We are both very over weight and have been for most of our life. We are no different than anyone else. We want to lose weight. Nathan and myself have portion controll issues and snack problems. He loves salads, however, nathans drenches it in ranch dressing. There is nothing healthy about his salad. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
We are killing ourselves slowly.

Well it’s good that you are aware and that you want to make changes, it just sounds like you are having problems getting started and actually being committed to changing. Do you guys have kids? If so, you are setting an example for them…try to make it a good one. In terms of telling you what to do and how to do it, it’s very difficult to say because I don’t know exactly what you’re doing; I don’t know what you are putting into your body. The best general advice I can give is to read food labels, actually measure out a serving size, eat plenty of fruits and veggies, choose whole-grains instead of white, and eat lean sources of protein (chicken instead of beef). In regards to overcoming the salad dressing issue, try to choose oil-based dressings in place of those thick, creamy ones. Also, pour what you would normally pour onto your salad into an empty bowl. Dip your fork into the dressing first then stab your salad…you will be amazed at how much of the dressing will still be in the bowl after your salad is finished. You need to be mentally strong and know you are making these changes to better your life. You will have bumps in the road and you will want to stop, but stay determined and committed to sticking with your changes. Good Luck. If you have specific questions please feel free to contact me!
