For a lady, if your weight reduce to 55kg, your blood pressure will reduce to normal level, and your hypertension will disappear.

My mom had hypertension from year 2004. Her weight was 60-70kg at that time. She had to took medicine everyday at that time. But from 2006 she lost weight to around 55-57kg. Her blood pressure resume to below 130. She doesn't need to take medicine now.

So if u have hypertension, the important is to lose weight first.

Great info, Kinsey. Thanks for spreading the word. ---------- I have seen many hypertensive patients either avoid drug therapy for hypertension or be able to reduce their drug usage after losing a significant amount of excess weight. What's "sigificant"? At least 5% of initial body weight. ------ Steve Parker, M.D.
