Muscular Legs Make Jeans Impossible? Barbell Apparel is Here to Solve Your Denim Dilemma

You’ve lifted, squatted, stretched, and sweat your way to a fitter life and smaller waistline. However, you’ve also built up muscle in your thighs, calves, and butt, which can make slipping into your favorite pair (or any pair) of jeans a bigger challenge than you may expect.

Famous athletes have complained about the lack of jeans options that fit their athletic frames, and they’re certainly not the only ones with that problem. Anyone who has muscular legs probably knows the struggle of finding pants to fit both your legs and waist.

That’s where Barbell Apparel comes in. They are a new company designing jeans with athletic figures specifically in mind.

The founders are athletes themselves, so the idea for Barbell Apparel came from their own difficulties with finding the right fit.

“We were tired of struggling with jeans that didn’t fit, weren’t comfortable, and completely restricted our ability to move. So we decided to fix it,” they explained to Shape Magazine.

Barbell, which has raised over $458,000 on Kickstarter, has already decided to expand its offerings beyond standard sizes and a standard cut. Due to the overwhelming support for their product, Barbell now has an expanded size offering (28-40 for men, 24-33 for women), and a boot cut style in addition to the athletic style.

They boast jeans that “fit comfortably over muscular legs by accommodating your quads and butt without forcing you to buy larger sizes for the small waist you work so hard for.”

Though the jeans are designed with athletes in mind, the founders say anyone can wear them. According to their Kickstarter page, “Barbell Denim will accommodate any body type. Even if your legs aren’t particularly muscular, Barbell Denim will still look amazing on you and feel even more amazing as you move in them.”

The denim used to make the jeans stretches both ways to allow for maximum stretch and ability to move. The founders say while the jeans are great for every day wear, they’re especially useful when you’re doing something more active.

Active and athletic people have supported the jeans in droves, and from the sounds of it, Barbell is just getting started.

“Here at Barbell Apparel we strive to make premium classy clothing for active and athletic people when they aren’t in the gym. Premium functional denim is just the beginning…we will be looking into making functional, classy, and comfortable dress shirts, slacks, blazers, socks, and chinos.”
