Look what washed up on the Australian shore! It’s Taylor Swift in a bikini. Not hard to believe, the country music starlet is perennially fit and gorgeous.
The 22-year-old is currently rocking her international Speak Now tour. And while the bus may be weighed down in industry accolades thanks to her 13 million albums sold, she’s hardly contributing to the poundage.
She loves to pull the bus in to Cracker Barrel for a meal of eggs and biscuits, which considering that menu, is pretty tame of her. She also likes the restaurant’s apple butter and keeps it in her fridge. The down-to-earth country star keeps it real when it comes to eating though, and says she maintains an internal barometer of how healthy or not she’s been for the week, and then makes adjustments. You’ll also rarely see Taylor without water, as she keeps a bottle on hand at all times knowing how important hydration is to maintain such an impossible schedule as she does.
In a taped Dr. Oz appearance, she asked the TV doctor about a healthy on-the-road snack, shedding a little light on her loose eating style.
“I don’t really have a structured diet ‘thing’ that I do,” she told Dr. Oz. “But I do like to incorporate healthy snacks to being on the road. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for things you could find in the regular grocery store?”
While we would have liked to see Dr. Oz provide Taylor and his audience with an actual list of items they could pick up, he did offer this healthy snack that could give Taylor a mid-day pick me up and sweetness she may be craving. He calls it The Swift Shake.
- 1/2 cup 100% natural peanut butter or almond butter
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 1/2 cups ground flax seed
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
1. Combine ingredients and shake. Scoop into clusters and take to go.
As for staying fit, clearly she’s burning up most of these calories dancing across the stage every night. But she doesn’t rely on that as a sole form of exercise. Taylor told Glamour that she squeezes in a one-hour run every single day because “health is a big part of being happy.” As her lyrics often suggest, she’s a regular girl just like the rest of us, and whether running for fitness or to escape the stress and anxiety she admits to having on occasion, pounding the pavement is a perfect solution for just about anyone.
Not too sure about baring all this early in March like Taylor? If beach plans are in your near future, our fitness expert Kelly Turner shares how you can Lose Your Saddlebags by Spring Break. You should definitely consider an hour of daily exercise and consistent hydration like Taylor, but also consider Kelly’s advice. The workout she shares “will shrink your saddlebags, and these are personally some of my favorites to do because you can perform them laying on the ground, surfing the ‘net or watching TV.” Or maybe even on a tour bus! “Do these exercises twice through, 2-3 times a week and notice your thighs slim, your butt lift and your saddlebags…what saddlebags?,” she said.
