Weight Watchers Free Trial

Retweet

January may be nearly over, but it’s not the only month in which you may resolve to take those first steps toward a healthier lifestyle. Health doesn’t have a season, and Weight Watchers has never gone out of style. It’s not really a diet, and it’s certainly not a fad diet. They teach you how to eat, how to strike balance in the food choices you make, the benefits of exercise and help you to goal and beyond.

If you want to test-drive the program, Weight Watchers Online offers a one-week free trial. They’re so sure you’ll be pleased that they automatically enroll you in the 3-month savings plan (a fee of $65); unless you cancel within seven days. However, through January 2009, you can save 25% on Weight Watchers by subscribing to the 3-month savings plan from the start.

With the online free trial or 3-month subscription you’ll gain access to more than 30,000 food options, weight trackers and progress charts, personalized goals and you’ll learn to use the infamous POINTS system.

I'm not dieting (I came across this through other means) but I do wonder:

If it's such a good product, why does WeightWatchers NEED to have you automatically enrolled after 7 days? If it's such a good product, surely it's a simple matter of calling/e-mailing to ask if you would like to sign up to the whole programme (after you've had a free trial) - at which point card details can be taken if you want to sign up.

Scam or not, a product that forces you to sign up to it if you forget to cancel the "free" trial sounds like a product not worth bothering with. posted Sep 2nd, 2009 2:36 pm

I tried to sign up for the free trial week. But unless I gave them my credit card number it would not let me. I never put my credit card information online. I’m not going to start now. So much for free…why do they need my card if I don’t even know if I’m going to like it or not. they should give you your free week and then ask if you are interested in staying with the program. This is a bad set up. Shame in them !!!
Watch out all new people looking into this program. I think it’s set up like a scam.

I am interested in your 30 day free trial.
I am not computer literate, so don’t send simple messages.

They want your credit card information so that they can charge you $65 immediately after your trial ends. I tried their website and was very underwhelmed, so I wouldn’t recommend it. I tried to cancel the program as well, but under “certain terms and conditions”, you will only get $18 back if you cancel after the week long trial. Total rip-off.

Yes, I agree…30 days free…and then ask for credit card details…As if you forget to cancel…which some people do… they will charge you and then you will be in to contract, and if you want out, you will have to pay termination fee…So, please make 30 days really free with no tricks!!! Then, more people will sighn up for the programme, if they like it!!! thanx

I am a lifetime member of Weight Watchers, but am over my goal right now. I would like to take advantage of the free one week trial of Weight Watchers online, to see if that might work better for me. I lost the weight but had trouble maintaining it so now I’ back to where I started a few years ago. Weight Watchers, please contact me by email so that I can give this free trial a shot. Like the others, I am not interested in signing up for a longer time and giving out a credit card number if I don’t feel this method will work for me.

Thanks.

I, too, would like to check out the free trial without giving my credit card number online. Is is possible to try it and contact someone after the trial by phone to make my payment? I do not and will not put my credit card number online…

NOT a SCAM....learn to read people!!

To Disappointed Dieter AND Joan,
If you read the terms it clearly states that your card will not be charged until after the 7-day trial. Meaning that it is YOUR responsibility to cancel BEFORE the 7th day! If you don’t cancel, then you get charged after the 7th day.
I signed up with no problem and canceled it immediately on the 6th day from the WEBSITE! It’s that simple! Just one click of the mouse to cancel and you even get a confirmation number and a confirmation email stating that your account was canceled and your card not charged.
Now whether you like the website and it’s features, that’s your own personal opinion.
NOT A SCAM people, just read the terms, it’s that simple!! I don’t just get what the big deal is over the trial…..use common sense and read!!

I agree – I CAN READ and it WOULD be my place to cancel – WW -why not make it free – then cut off in 7 days and those who liked this program would then give you their credit card #. I have tried other things this way and when I tried to cancel the page was down and got charged anyway! That won’t happen again! Great commercials – not so great site. I’ll try Jenny.

I have a few friends who do WW and love it and have had great results,, I dont like weighing myself even by myself… so sure wouldnt do it in front of other people… so I went online yesterday and found that with some searching the basic information needed to do WW is available online free. I found the “core food list” and also there is a free online calculator to figure food value “points”. Here is the web address for the online WW points calculator.

Also, I found information to figure the points if you do not have your computer handy,, but it is a little complicated, so carry a calculator and a pen and note pad to do the figuring….
Here is the formula for figuring WW points

1. calories divided by 50 = A
2. fat grams divided by 12 = B
A+B=C

3. fiber divided by 5 =D

C minus D =# of points

the # of points allowed depends on your starting weight.
150 or less +18-23
150-174 = 20-25
175-199 = 22-27
etc.
I am just going to try this at home on my own for a week or so and if it works, THEN I will join the online site or maybe even get brave and go to a meeting with my friends. I think doing it long term would be better with others to help motivate, but I want to try it for a while on my own before I announce to my friends or anyone else that I am trying it. LOL
Hope this information is of help.

Do not do the 7-day trial
Feb 24th, 2009

I can read too! I tried the 7-day “free” trial and my credit card was charged! I attempted to cancel on the 7th day, however, the WW website was down, wouldn’t you know? Even after bringing this to WW’s attention, I was refunded only $18.10. So for the 2 hours I browsed their website (not worth it), I was charged $46.90. There are numerous complaints on the internet about this bait and switch. Don’t do it! WW has been reported to the BBB for exactly this. So, for the person who screamed “use common sense and read” – why don’t you do the same and google the 7-day trial? You will find plenty to read about how people got ripped-off for doing the 7-day trial. Your experience does not mirror the many others out there who also canceled BEFORE the 7-day trial ended.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT’S UNBELIEVABLE TO ME THAT W.W. WOULD RESORT TO THIS TYPE OF UNETHICAL DEALINGS. YOU’VE COME A LONG WAY FROM JEAN NIDETCH’S DREAM IN QUEENS, N.Y. AND I DON’T THINK SHE WOULD APPROVE OF YOUR CHEATING ALL THESE PEOPLE OUT OF MONEY. SHE WAS A VERY NICE, DOWN TO EARTH WOMAN WHO FROM
A LITTLE SUBURB IN N.Y. BECAME EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL BY SHEER INGENUITY AND GOOD LUCK. MY AUNT WAS A FRIEND OF HERS AND SPENT MANY HOURS HELPING JEAN BECOME SUCCESSFUL.

I tried the 7 day trial, but was not happy with the content. On the 8th day I realized time had slipped past the deadline to withdraw. I called the 800 number for weight watchers and was refunded the entire amount the next day – no questions asked.

WW is one of the less hyped diet plans, but agree with above comments – free does not mean free.

How can you get away with not giving people what you are advertising like free it is not free if you want our credit card numbers first false advertising Is what I see it is. You are even on T.V with that one week free selling point get our numbers after we see if were staying with the program not before the you can call it free.

People READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN UP

7 days is 7 days, not 7 days and 1 minute, etc… its a one-click process to cancel or call – get off your lazy fat and get your together.

This is why the entire world hates Americans.

I don’t really think the 7-day trial is a scam. Yes, they ask for your credit card info upfront. But they also clearly state that after the 7th day your card will be charged. And they’re not the only company who does this. I’ve signed up for other free trials and have been asked for credit card info. But I’ve never had a problem cancelling because I never wait until the last day of the trial. I set up a reminder on my calendar to cancel a day or two before the last day. That may sound like a lot of work to some people. But it beats getting charged and then trying to get a refund.

Thanks so much JustMe.
Have been on WW and gained instead of loosing. Wanted to give it another try nut lost my introductory info. WW would not let me purchase the POINTS info w/o signing on for meetings. Not interested! You are an answer to prayer! AMEN and GOD BLESS

I have used the weight watchers program in 1999 while at work. I know things have changed after al these years but the program was successful for me. I am only interested in how to calculate my points now that I am older and “shorter”.I still have the old book that shows what foods = what points. Can you help me? I cannot afford the new on-line program as our income is currently fixed. I am 60 years old and currently weigh 148. I would like to loose 15 lbs.
I would appreciate any counseling you can give me to get back on track with the materials I already have. Thank you so much.
