The new Mac App store launched yesterday to help facilitate downloading applications straight to your computer and make installation even easier. Like the App Store you’re familiar with on your iPad or iPhone, it seems like there’s an app for just about everything, including some great tools discussed below to help you stay on track with your diet and fitness goals.
Perfect Diet Tracker
Perfect Diet Tracker is a food journaling app that helps you track what you eat. You can access over 75,000 food items and choose between working with imperial or metric measurements. It will help you create a personalized diet plan using your goals.
Another food journaling app, HealthNut uses the official USDA SR23 database which contains nearly 8,000 food items. Once you select the foods you’ve eaten or plan to eat, the program shows you not only the total calories, but also the percent protein, carb and fat. Plus, it’s easy to ad new foods or combine existing items to create new dishes.
MynaTime stores a library of exercises, from which you can create your own personalized workout. Or you can add your own workouts, exactly the way you want them. MynaTime will talk you through your selected workout while you listen to your favorite iTunes workout playlist.
You can get the MynaTime Mac app here.
This free app sets reminders for anyone who spends all day on their computer. It reminds you to take a break, stand up, stretch your muscles, and get your blood flowing. There is much evidence that sitting all day has a negative impact on your health, so this app can be a real benefit to your overall health.
Garmin Training Center
If you have a Garmin fitness device, then you can use this free app to analyze your workouts.
